The setup: a cursed world after Ragnarök
The story starts after the Great War of Ragnarök. A strange magic has warped the reborn world and turned every living being, body and soul, into fruits and vegetables. You are the Durian Hero, one of the few warriors brought back after the war and chosen by the gods to break the curse.
To do that, you travel to Muspelheim, the Land of Fire. It is packed with dangerous creatures, many of them spawned by the fire giant Surtr, who destroyed the old world. Your job across a run is to grow strong enough to reach and beat him.
How a run plays out
Before you drop into the arena, you pick a character, a weapon, and a God’s Trails. Each of these has its own mechanics and playstyle, so the combination you choose sets the foundation for your build. Once inside, the loop is quick and reactive. Enemies swarm, you clear them, and the arena keeps changing around you.
Killing enemies drops experience. When your EXP bar fills, you level up and choose a Fate Flavor, which adds a new mechanic to your build. If the Fate Flavor you pick links to your chosen God’s Trails, that God’s Trails gets upgraded too, which is how you steer a run toward a specific power fantasy.
Enemies also drop Norse Coin. You spend it in the in-run shop to raise your stats, buy augments that strengthen your weapon, or reroll the Fate Flavor and item options you are offered. Because every run reshuffles environments, enemies, and choices, no two attempts play out exactly the same.

Progress that carries between runs
Duriano is a roguelite, so you keep some progress even when a run ends. Every run rewards Fertilizer, a permanent currency. You spend it to upgrade your permanent stats, which makes each following attempt a little stronger, and to unlock certain characters.
On top of Fertilizer, you steadily unlock new hero variants, God options, and weapons the more you play. That means the pool of build pieces you can draw from keeps expanding, and later runs can attempt combinations that were not available early on.
