The biggest Arc Raiders update since launch lands on October 8th, bringing a frozen map, new ARC threats, and a reworked skill tree.

Arc Raiders finally has a hard date for its Frozen Trail update. Embark Studios has locked the game’s largest content drop since launch to October 8, 2026, ending months of a broad “sometime in October” window and confirming the arrival of a new frozen map, fresh ARC enemies, and a rebuilt progression system.

Quick answer: Frozen Trail releases on October 8, 2026. The status is confirmed by Embark; no specific launch time or time zone has been shared yet.

Release status and timing

Embark set the date in an official blog post, pinning the update to October 8th. Earlier in the year the studio only committed to an October window as part of its move to a twice-a-year update schedule, so this is the first firm calendar entry for the drop.

What Frozen Trail adds

The update sends Raiders into a frozen settlement after Shani picks up a signal from beyond the mountains. The new region is built around abandoned villages, factories, research facilities, and an observatory, and it is positioned as the largest map in the game so far, comfortably bigger than Riven Tides.

Executive Producer Aleksander Grøndal has described the map as an environment built with far greater verticality, with the level design team focusing on exploration and discovery. He has also warned that the danger stretches everywhere across the space.

You’ll encounter threats above and below ground, and navigate environments that no Raiders have seen before.

That points to a wide spread of new ARC machines, ranging from small units to giant threats that could rival or exceed the scale of the Queen and the Matriarch.

Progression changes and the Outpost

Beyond the map, Embark is reworking the skill tree and deepening the wider progression system, a direct response to players who have already maxed out their Raider Den and hit the skill point ceiling. The goal is to give end-game Raiders new targets to chase rather than layering more content on top of finished systems.

The Raider Den is also being expanded with a new area called the Outpost. Players will be able to decorate the space and research new methods for fighting ARC enemies there.

Frozen Trail additionally introduces the start of the ARC origin storyline, the first real attempt to explain what the machines are and where they came from after months of environmental hints.

Why the wait until October

Frozen Trail is the first release under Embark’s shift to two major updates per year, replacing the roughly monthly cadence the game ran after launch. The studio said the monthly pace limited how impactful each drop could be and was not sustainable for the scale of content it wants to ship.

That does not mean the game goes quiet between big releases. A dedicated live-service team continues to handle balance changes, bug fixes, store rotations, and player events on a regular schedule. The extra runway is also being used for deeper work on progression, economy balancing, and anti-cheat.

More reveals before launch

Embark has framed the current announcement as only a first look. The studio plans to share more in September, including details on new weapons with customization features, gadgets, cosmetics, and instruments. With the date now fixed to October 8th, expect that September window to fill in the rest of what ships with Frozen Trail.
