Genshin Impact 7.0: Forested Snowfield Quest and Legendary Thief’s Treasure Location

The “Forested Snowfield” world quest drops you into the snowy stretch of Snezhnaya around Morepesok, where a detective named Donya is chasing the Izmaylov gang for a stolen fortune. Your job is to help her clear out the thugs and follow the “Legendary Thief’s Treasure” Location map to its final hiding spot. The catch is that the treasure sits frozen inside a giant block of ice, so the last step is a small puzzle rather than another fight.

Quick answer: Travel to the marked treasure spot, place a Basic Heat Source next to the giant ice block to melt it, then open the revealed Precious Chest to finish the quest and collect 30 Primogems and 100,000 Mora.

How to unlock the Forested Snowfield quest

Forested Snowfield is one of the Snezhnaya world quests added in Version 7.0. It does not appear until you have made progress in the main story of the region. You need to advance through Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act I “Everwinter Without Mercy” and complete the segment “Gunfire in the Silent Lands,” which opens up this batch of Snezhnaya world quests.

Once it is available, open your inventory and inspect the “Legendary Thief’s Treasure” Location item. This map points you toward the starting area near Morepesok, in the snowfields of Snezhnaya.

Track the Izmaylov gang with Donya

Open the Snezhnaya map and teleport to the waypoint closest to Morepesok. Head toward the small snowy village to begin the chase.

Approach the village to trigger a conversation with Dashkov. When the talk ends, fight and defeat Dashkov along with the other Izmaylov Thugs guarding the area.

Follow Donya as she pushes toward the gang’s stronghold. Along the path, you can loot an Exquisite Chest, and more gang members will attack as you advance.

Reach the gang’s cabin and confront Gusarov and Lukyanov. Defeat Gusarov’s group to break their defense.

Chase the members who try to flee toward a nearby igloo and defeat them once more. After this fight, a cutscene locks the remaining gang members inside a cabin.

Loot the chest in the area and speak with the rescued workers. Then talk to Gerik and Donya about the treasure map, which reveals the final destination.

Legendary Thief’s Treasure location and the ice block puzzle

After the discussion with Gerik and Donya, a new marker appears for the treasure site. Travel to that marked point, and you will find a large ice block sealing the loot. The treasure is fully encased, so you cannot open anything until the ice is gone.

Walk up to the giant ice block at the marked location. Look for the crafting or gadget prompt to place a heat device beside it.

Spawn and place a Basic Heat Source next to the ice. The heat melts the block over a few seconds and exposes the Precious Chest hidden inside.

Open the Precious Chest, then finish the closing dialogue to complete Forested Snowfield.

Note: If the ice does not melt, make sure the Basic Heat Source is placed directly beside the block rather than at a distance. The device needs to be close enough for its heat to reach the frozen treasure.

Forested Snowfield rewards

Finishing the quest and opening the final chest grants the following:

You know the quest is done when the closing dialogue ends and the quest completion screen shows the Primogem and Mora payout. At that point Forested Snowfield moves to your completed quest log.

The whole run is short once you reach Morepesok, and the only real obstacle is remembering to bring out the Basic Heat Source at the end. Clear the three fight stages with Donya, free the trapped workers, follow the updated map marker, and melt the ice to claim the last chest.
