Playable at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne
Gamescom 2026 is the first chance for the public to go hands-on with Metro 2039. The show runs from August 26 to August 30 in Cologne, Germany, and 4A Games and Deep Silver will host their own booth with playable stations in Hall 9.1.
Because this is a survival-horror first-person shooter, the demo is the earliest look at how the game actually plays rather than how it looks in a trailer. Expect the series staples, including resource management built into a diegetic in-game interface and familiar Metro weapons.
What Metro 2039 is about
Metro 2039 is the fourth mainline entry in the franchise based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels, and it is the first new game since 2019’s Metro Exodus. The story picks up about four years later and pulls players back into the tunnels beneath Moscow, focusing again on enclosed spaces such as tunnels and catacombs.
