Every new badge across the GLOOM and CITADEL biomes, the exact task for each, and the cosmetic you earn.

Every new badge across the GLOOM and CITADEL biomes, the exact task for each, and the cosmetic you earn.

The Final Ascent update adds two fresh biomes to PEAK, GLOOM and THE CITADEL, and with them come 10 new badges to collect. Each one is tied to a specific task, and each rewards a unique hat or outfit for your character. Every badge here can be earned on any difficulty except Custom.

Quick answer: Complete the listed task for each badge during your run to unlock it and its cosmetic. Some badges count progress from any teammate, while others must be finished by you individually.

Which badges share progress across your team

Some badges unlock for everyone as long as one person does the work, which changes how you should split tasks in co-op. Others require each scout to complete the task on their own.

  • Archery counts arrows removed by any teammate toward your total of 10.
  • Bellringer counts bells rung by any member of the party toward the 5 needed.
  • Wanderer is granted to every party member when you light the campfire at the end of the GLOOM zone.

GLOOM badges: Bellringer, Exorcist, Wanderer, and Well Rested

GLOOM is the fourth biome in the run, following SHORE, ROOTS, and ALPINE. Four of the new badges are earned here before you move on to THE CITADEL.

Bellringer: Belltowers sit around the water areas of GLOOM and stop the sleep effect when rung. Locate and ring five of them in a single run. Watch for Frogs and Ghosts while you move between towers.

Exorcist: The Big Ghost appears in GLOOM, and you unlock this badge by burning it down. You can do that with a Candlestick, a Faerie Lantern, a Lantern, or a Portable Stove. Ringing a Belltower also burns the ghost if it happens to spawn near one.

Well Rested: The Early Worm spawns randomly on the ground in GLOOM, often near the water. When you find it, eat it to unlock the badge. Consuming it also clears any drowsy effect.

Wanderer: Simply reach the end of GLOOM and light the campfire that leads into THE CITADEL. The badge then unlocks for everyone in the party.

CITADEL badges: Archery and Medieval History

THE CITADEL is packed with floor and wall traps, and both of its badges revolve around those traps in opposite ways.

Archery: Step on the arrow traps to get shot, then look at the spot on your body where an arrow lands and interact with it to pull it out. Do this until you have removed 10 arrows in one run. Keep healing items handy so you do not die while farming the arrows.

Medieval History: Climb all the way past THE CITADEL without being hit by a single trap. The only exception is the Petrified Rocks, which do not count against the badge, so you can safely stand on them. Move slowly, and consider letting a teammate scout the path ahead.

Luggage and item badges: Jester, Hang Gliding, and Last Resort

These three depend on items you loot from luggage or ancient containers scattered across the biomes.

Jester: Clown Luggage can spawn in any biome and is marked with a clown face. Find and open three of them in a single run to unlock the Jester Hat and Outfit.

Hang Gliding: Pull the Glider from luggage, then climb to a high cliff and jump off, gliding in one direction until you cover 100 meters without touching the ground. Gliding drains stamina, so make sure your bar is full before you launch.

Last Resort: This one is co-op only. Grab the Ritual Dagger from an Ancient Idol or Ancient Luggage, injure yourself so you are below 25% health, then backstab your teammate to sacrifice them. Doing so heals you by more than 75% at once and unlocks the badge.

Rule Zero: freeing the Scoutmaster’s soul

Rule Zero is the longest challenge of the update, so plan a full run around it. It sends you through the new NADIR biome and back to the PEAK.

Collect all four Scout Gems, one each from the SHORE, ROOTS, ALPINE, and GLOOM biomes as you climb.
Reach the PEAK and place the four gems into the Scout Statue to open access to the NADIR biome.
Commune with the Scoutmaster’s soul in NADIR, then return to the PEAK to complete the badge and earn the Starboy Hat and Outfit.

How to confirm a badge unlocked

When a badge unlocks, it is added to your player’s sash, and its matching cosmetic becomes available in your character customization. You can review and equip your cosmetics through the Passport at the airport before a run.

Note: Custom difficulty does not award these badges, so play on a standard difficulty. For the counting badges like Archery and Bellringer, remember that the totals must be reached within one expedition, not across multiple runs.
