The Cusk Purger is a craftable fishing rod that arrived in Fisch with The Deep update on August 8, 2026. It carries a 225% Luck stat and infinite weight capacity, built from the razor-edged teeth of the Monstrous Cusk. Getting it takes reaching a high experience level, farming materials across the new underwater zones, and paying a large sum of in-game currency at a single crafting station.
Quick answer: Reach experience Level 400, gather 3x Monstrous Cusk Tooth, 1x Line of the Deep, 3x Refined Scrap, 3x Hardened Chitin, 3x Abyssal Bio-Fluid, 3x Radiant Prism Scale, and 3x Ancient Bone, then interact with the crafting anvil inside the Ancient Archives and pay 750,000 C$.

Cusk Purger requirements before you craft
The rod is locked behind two hard gates. You cannot see the recipe as craftable until both are met.
- Experience level: You must reach Level 400 before the recipe becomes available at the anvil.
- Currency: You need 750,000 C$ on hand to complete the craft.
- Location: Crafting only happens at the anvil inside the Ancient Archives, reached through Ancient Isle.

Add to Google Preferences →All Cusk Purger crafting materials and where to farm them
Every ingredient drops or is earned inside The Deep. Farm these before heading to the anvil, since the craft consumes all of them at once.
| Material | Amount | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| Monstrous Cusk Tooth | 3 | Harpoon the Monstrous Cusk during its periodic hunt at the Gloomy Crevice using any Harpoon Gun. |
| Line of the Deep | 1 | Finish the questline from the Cartographer NPC in the Outer Deep. |
| Refined Scrap | 3 | Obtained from Crushed Diving Helmets. |
| Hardened Chitin | 3 | Obtained from Yeti Crabs. |
| Abyssal Bio-Fluid | 3 | Catch Luminous Hake in the Lower Deep. |
| Radiant Prism Scale | 3 | Obtained from Formosa Seabass. |
| Ancient Bone | 3 | Obtained from Pacific Sleeper Shark. |
Tip: The Monstrous Cusk Hunt only appears periodically at the Gloomy Crevice, and each catch yields a single tooth. Running a high-disturbance setup, and fishing during a Solar Eclipse, adds extra disturbance that helps the hunt spawn faster.
How to craft the Cusk Purger

If you see “Failed to craft Cusk Purger!” instead, you are missing at least one ingredient, are short on currency, or have not yet reached Level 400.
Cusk Purger stats
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Lure Speed | 88% |
| Luck | 225% |
| Control | -0.05 |
| Resilience | 25% |
| Max Kg | Infinite |
| Durability | 200 |
| Disturbance | +7 |
| Line Distance | 150 m |
| Journal XP | 7,500 (The Deep) |
The trade-off is the negative Control value. At -0.05, the reeling bar shrinks to about 25% of the minigame width, which makes each catch harder to steer in exchange for the very high Luck.
Passives and unique effects
The rod’s kit is built around dragging in deep-sea monsters and stacking mutation value. Its abilities break down as follows.
- Fish Weight: +15% weight on fish you catch.
- Mutations: 50% chance for the Monstrous mutation, which applies a 9x sell multiplier.
- Slash passive: 35% per fish movement to slash for 5% progress while the fish is on the bar.
- Progress Speed: +5% Forced Progress Speed and +35% Progress Speed.
- Unique effect: Every 6 to 12 seconds, the fish is forced to follow the fishing bar for 0.9 seconds.
- Monster Hunter: Against a Progress Locked Fish, guarantees the Monstrous mutation (9x) and multiplies final weight by 1.35x. It cannot catch Special rarity fish.
Between the +7 Disturbance and the Monstrous mutation odds, the Cusk Purger doubles as a tool for spawning hunt fish and for pulling in higher sell values, which balances out the narrow control bar for players who have already hit Level 400. A Faceless Purger skin is also available for the rod through Deep Sea Stylist Colin’s quest if you want to change its look after crafting.
