The Vietnam War shooter launched on August 13, 2026, but you still have to buy it to play, even with a subscription.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam arrived on August 13, 2026, and it is not part of the Xbox Game Pass library. Subscribers cannot download or play it through their membership. To jump into the 50-versus-50 battles, you need to buy the game outright on a supported platform.

Quick answer: Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is a paid game only. It is not on Xbox Game Pass, and there is no free Game Pass version. Purchase the Standard or Deluxe edition from the Xbox Store to play on Xbox Series X|S.

Where a Game Pass subscription still matters

Owning the game is only half of the requirement on console. Because Hell Let Loose: Vietnam is an online multiplayer title, playing it on Xbox Series X|S also needs an active online multiplayer subscription. That means Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate, which are sold separately from the game itself.

So the subscription is not a way to get the game for free. It only unlocks the online play that the game depends on, in the same way it does for other paid multiplayer titles on Xbox.

Editions and prices

There are two versions to choose from. The Standard edition is the base game, while the Deluxe edition bundles in cosmetic content that arrives across 2026.

EditionPriceWhat you get
Standard Edition$39.99Base game
Deluxe Edition$59.99Base game plus 2026 Field Supplies: NVA Boat Crew Uniform, ANZAC & NVA Field Supply (Q3 2026), and Green Berets & Navy SEALs Field Supply (Q4 2026)

Which platforms can run it

The game targets current-generation hardware only. There is no last-generation console version, so Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners cannot play it.

Matches put 100 players into 50-versus-50 combat across jungles, river systems, and open terrain. The United States side can call in helicopters and operate armed patrol boats like the U.S. PBR, while North Vietnamese forces can dig tunnel networks for surprise flanks.

Could it join Game Pass later?

Nothing has been confirmed. There is no official statement pointing to a future Game Pass release for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, so you should plan around buying it rather than waiting for it to land on the service.

Note: The original Hell Let Loose did eventually join Game Pass after launch, so a future addition is not impossible. That is background only, and it is not a promise about the Vietnam game. If the status changes, it will be shared through the game’s official channels.

For now, the path is simple. Buy the edition you want on your platform of choice, and on Xbox make sure you also have Game Pass Core or Ultimate active so you can get online.
