Frogs are one of the main threats in the GLOOM, the foggy swamp biome added in PEAK’s The Final Ascent update. They hide near lily pads and water, croak to signal their position, and yank you with a long tongue attack the moment they get a clear line of sight. The trick is that a Frog stops being dangerous the instant you hold it, which opens up two ways to deal with them.
Quick answer: Run up to a Frog and pick it up (it can’t use its tongue while held). Then either carry it to a lit Portable Stove and cook it into Cooked Frog Legs, or throw it toward THE CITADEL so its tongue drags you across the swamp.

Pick up the Frog to disable its tongue
Both methods start the same way. When you spot a Frog, chase it down and pick it up exactly like any other item. While it’s held, it cannot attack you, so grabbing it is the safest first move. From there you decide whether to cook it or use it to travel.

Add to Google Preferences →Cook Frogs into Cooked Frog Legs with a Portable Stove
This is the most direct way to get rid of a Frog for good, and it turns the threat into a food source. You need a Portable Stove, which drops randomly from Luggage, so it isn’t guaranteed on every run.

Use Frogs as a climbing tool to cross the GLOOM
The same tongue that drags you into the fog can pull you toward safety if you aim it. Because a held Frog is harmless, you can throw it and ride its grab across the swamp toward THE CITADEL.

Note: Frogs were toned down in the 2.01.a update. After a Frog grabs you, there’s now a universal 6-second cooldown, so no other Frog can pull you during that window.
How to avoid Frog grabs in the first place
If you’d rather slip past Frogs than fight them, a few habits keep you out of tongue range. A Frog can only grab you when it sees you, so cutting its line of sight is the most dependable defense.
| Tactic | Why it works |
|---|---|
| Listen for croaking | You hear Frogs before you see them, so the sound tells you which direction to steer around. |
| Stay off tree edges | Even high above the fog, a Frog can grab you and drag you down into the drowsy-inducing mist. |
| Break line of sight | Frogs can only tongue you when they can see you, so hide behind obstacles in the GLOOM. |
| Use the Anti-Zooka | Its portable anti-gravity bubbles float you up out of the fog, clearing the Drowsy effect and giving you a view of the route ahead. |
Grab first, then choose: cook the Frog for guaranteed food, or throw it to ferry yourself out of the fog. Either way, a Frog only stays a problem while it’s on the ground and looking at you.
