Adopt Me Tux & Shepherd on the Stray Case Update: New Pets and Fork Task

Everything the Stray Case update adds, from the Mysterious Stranger's daily fork task to five new pets and accessories.

Everything the Stray Case update adds, from the Mysterious Stranger’s daily fork task to five new pets and accessories.

The Tux & Shepherd on the Stray Case update landed in Adopt Me on August 14, 2026, adding a limited-time investigation task, a batch of new pets and accessories, and a round of trading and interface fixes. Inspector Shepherd is following a trail of forks across Adoption Island, and a grumpy Mysterious Stranger at the School has a job for you.

Quick answer: Walk your pet around Adoption Island to sniff out six Bundles of Forks, hand them to the Mysterious Stranger at the School door, and collect 75 Bucks. You can repeat this once per in-game day.

Mysterious Stranger’s Task: Retrieve six Bundles of Forks

The task centers on the Mysterious Stranger stationed behind a locked door in the School hallway, with Inspector Shepherd and Tux Kitt working the case. Completing it once earns 75 Bucks, and it resets each in-game day.

Knock on the School door and speak with the grumpy stranger to accept the Task. The Task Board lists the objective as “Cafeteria Cutlery” and asks you to retrieve six hidden forks.
Take your pet on a walk around Adoption Island. Your pet identifies Bundles of Forks that are hiding in plain sight, sniffing them out from crates and spots along the ground.
Keep walking until the progress counter reaches 6/6. The bundles appear near objects and terrain along the trail, so cover the area between the park and the School.
Return to the door and leave the six Bundles of Forks with the Mysterious Stranger. You receive 75 Bucks, and the stranger tells you to come back tomorrow for more.

You know the task is done when the reward payout of 75 Bucks appears and the stranger’s dialogue confirms the delivery. Because it is limited to one completion per in-game day, there is no way to farm it repeatedly in a single day.

New pets and accessories in the Stray Case update

Inspector Shepherd calls in reinforcements for the Stray Case. Tux Kitt is the black tuxedo cat spy working the strays, while Vit Ness is the hyperattentive Chihuahua tracking every change on Adoption Island. The full lineup of new pets and accessories is below, with rarity and cost for each.

The Chihuahua hatches from both the Basic Egg and the Crystal Egg, so you can chase it with tickets whether you are hatching on a budget or going for better odds. The Tuxedo Cat is a Robux purchase, meaning it becomes available immediately to anyone with the currency rather than through a hatch or task.

Bug fixes and quality-of-life changes

Alongside the new content, the update ships several fixes focused on the Trading Hub, tooltips, and audio during recurring events.

  • Canceling or declining an offer in the Trading Hub now happens much faster.
  • Tooltips display correctly when using the Trading Hub on a tablet.
  • House Edit tooltips that failed to appear now show up as intended.
  • Music during Admin Abuse and 2D Tuesdays no longer changes when you speak to NPCs.
  • Trade-restricted countries now see the correct popup text when trying to post in the Trading Hub.

The task, pets, and accessories run as part of this weekly rotation, so the fork hunt and the tie-in items are the priority if you want to work the Stray Case while it is active. If you are collecting the full set, plan your Bucks around the accessories and keep tickets ready for Chihuahua pulls from the Basic and Crystal Eggs.
