Aniimo: The Best Swimming Aniimo for Exploring Idyll

Piopiota reaches Swim Lv. 3 for the fastest water sprints, while Glacy and Pranky cover Swim Lv. 2 early on.

Idyll is full of lakes, rivers, and open water, and the aniimo you slot into your Swim traversal slot decides how quickly and efficiently you cross them. Not every water-capable creature swims at the same speed, and the difference between Swim Lv. 1 and Swim Lv. 3 is the difference between a slow paddle and a full sprint across a bay.

Quick answer: Piopiota and Nighttime Piopiota are the only Swim Lv. 3 aniimo, so evolve a Piopiota for the fastest swimming. Before then, catch a Glacy or Pranky for Swim Lv. 2.

How swimming works in Aniimo

Swimming aniimo let you explore the bodies of water scattered across the map. Unlike many open-world games, you cannot drown here. Stamina is only spent when you want to swim faster, so a low-level swimmer will still get you across a lake eventually, just slowly.

Every swimming aniimo carries a Swim rating from Level 1 to Level 3, shown on its portrait icon. Higher levels stretch your stamina further and speed you up in the water.

  • Swim Lv. 1 — baseline speed, drains stamina quickly.
  • Swim Lv. 2 — faster travel and better stamina efficiency.
  • Swim Lv. 3 — the only tier that unlocks sprint swimming with the Shift key, with minimal stamina drain.

That sprint mechanic is why a Level 3 swimmer such as Piopiota or Gachapus is worth chasing. Level 1 and Level 2 swimmers move at a fixed pace with no sprint option.

Equip a swimming aniimo to your Swim slot

In the creature management screen, select the Explore tab at the upper right instead of Combat. The Climb, Fly, and Swim slots are listed there.

Select Swim from the traversal categories on the left sidebar. The list filters to only the aniimo that can swim.
Find an aniimo with the Swim level you want, ideally Level 3, then click and drag its portrait into the Swim slot. The portrait icon shows the assigned Swim level once it is equipped, confirming the change.

Best swimming aniimo to prioritize

Piopiota is the fastest swimmer

Piopiota outswims the other options. Once evolved, it reaches Swim Lv. 3 and can sprint with the Shift key, making it a strong target for exploring over the long term. The nighttime Piopiota form also has Swim Lv. 3.

Gachapus is another Level 3 swimmer, so browsing the Swim roster will surface it alongside Piopiota when you check which creatures unlock sprinting.

Glacy or Pranky for the early game

Your starting Skippy has only Swim Level 1. Catching a Glacy or Pranky is a simple early upgrade, bringing you straight to Swim Lv. 2. That boost lasts until you evolve Piopiota for Swim Lv. 3.

Erlath is a useful dual-traversal option, pairing Swim Lv. 2 with Fly Lv. 2, so it covers two exploration slots if you are short on strong swimmers.

The takeaway is simple. Lean on Glacy or Pranky while you are building up your roster, then commit to evolving a Piopiota so your Swim slot sits at Level 3 and you can sprint across Idyll’s waters with almost no stamina cost.
