Big Walk: How to Solve the Blue Tower Obstacle Course Puzzle

The exact team steps to clear the blocks, beam, and wind-up timer south of the Blue Tower.

The exact team steps to clear the blocks, beam, and wind-up timer south of the Blue Tower.

From the top of the Blue Tower in Big Walk, you can spot a bright, multi-colored obstacle course sitting below in the hills. It is a two-part cooperative puzzle that rewards a control panel piece, and it cannot be finished alone. You need at least one partner to lift, catch, and coordinate with you through every section.

Quick answer: Drop all items, boost a teammate over the entrance door to hit the inside button, leap-frog each other over the blue, green, and red blocks, cross the thin red beam, both press the two switches, then kick the wind-up timer across the gap and slot it into the green pot before it self-destructs.

Obstacle course location near the Blue Tower

The course sits just south of the Blue Tower, around map coordinates 3700, 1950. You will need to descend the hills below the tower to reach it, so head down the slope until the colored blocks and door come into view.

Before you start, empty your characters completely. Remove any backpacks, belts, and carried items so nothing gets in the way of lifting and vaulting. The course goes much smoother when both players are unencumbered.

Open the entrance door

The button that opens the door is on the far side of the entrance, out of reach from the front. Have one player lift the other so your teammate can jump over to the inside of the door.

Once your teammate lands on the other side, they press the wall button to open the door for the player still outside. Keep the button held so the door stays open while you both pass through.

Clear the blue, green, and red blocks

The first hurdle is a set of three tall blocks in blue, green, and red. A single player cannot mantle these alone, so have your teammate pick you up and boost you onto the first block.

Once you are standing on top of the block, ask your teammate to jump, then pick them up in mid-air. Aim for the torso when you interact with their body so they land on your shoulders even from the raised position.

Keep leap-frogging in this way across all three blocks. After the last block, crouch to slip under the low wall on the far side.

Cross the red beam and open the next door

Carefully walk across the thin red beam or planks. Take it slow, since a slip means climbing back through the blocks again.
On the far side there are two buttons. You and your teammate must press them at the same time to open the door leading into the final section.

Complete the wind-up timer section

Split up for the final stretch. One player heads up the stairs to the platform across the gap, while the other stays next to the wind-up timer dispenser on the left side of the platform.

With both players in position, the one by the dispenser picks up the timer and kicks it across the gap to the other side. Time the throw so your partner is ready to grab it.
The player on the far side picks up the timer and quickly inserts it into the green pot before it self-destructs. Do it fast, because the timer runs down the moment it is picked up.

Note: If the timer runs out before it reaches the pot, it self-destructs and you simply pull a fresh one from the dispenser to try again.

How to know the puzzle is solved

Slotting the timer into the green pot completes the course and releases the control panel piece reward. This is one of the five puzzles that feed into the Blue Tower key. Once you have collected five control panel pieces, return to the top of the Blue Tower to claim the key, shape it at the five nearby key cutters, and use it to unlock the trains around the map.
