The Wandering Trader is a rare merchant who drops into the main lobby of Anime Expeditions for a short time, selling upgrade items that cost Gems. He looks like the Stone Alchemist, spawns in a random spot, and only sticks around briefly, so the key is knowing where to look the moment he arrives.

Where the Wandering Trader spawns
The Wandering Trader only appears in the main lobby. He never spawns inside expedition maps, so there is no point searching for him during a run. His position changes every time he shows up, but two reliable areas cover most sightings.

When you reach him, press E to open his shop and interact with the NPC.
Spawn timing and notification
A server-wide notification appears the moment the Wandering Trader spawns, which is your cue to head into the lobby and search. He can appear several times a day, usually with about one to two hours between visits, and he only stays for a short window before leaving.
Note: His stock is locked for the entire visit. Leaving the server and rejoining will not refresh the items, so you cannot reroll his shop. A fresh stock only returns the next time he spawns.

Other upgrade items have also turned up in his rotation, including Equipment Lock, Equipment Reroll, Luck Potion, and Trait Crystal. His exact selection can vary from one visit to the next.
