The standalone Cold Symmetry sequel unlocks on August 20 across PC, PS5, and Xbox, with a three-day head start for Devout Edition buyers.

Mortal Shell 2 launches worldwide on Thursday, August 20, 2026, arriving the same day on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The standalone action-RPG from Cold Symmetry unlocks at the same moment across every region, so the countdown comes down to a single global time rather than a staggered rollout.

Quick answer: The Standard Edition goes live on August 20, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. ET / 6:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. UTC. If you own the Devout Edition, you can start playing 72 hours earlier, from August 17, 2026 at the same clock times.

Release time: Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. UTC (9:00 a.m. ET / 6:00 a.m. PT)

Release status: Confirmed for August 20, 2026

The date is locked. Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack confirmed the launch alongside a release-date trailer, and the timing is carried on the game’s Steam listing. Pre-orders are open on every digital storefront now. There is no rolling regional launch, so the game becomes playable at one fixed instant everywhere.

Note: The game is single-player only, so starting early carries no competitive benefit. The Devout Edition’s head start is about time, not advantage.

How to confirm the game is playable

Once the clock passes your local unlock time, the store button on your platform switches from a countdown or pre-order state to Play or Install. Pre-loaded copies become launchable at that instant. If the button still shows a countdown after the listed time, restart the storefront client so it refreshes the release flag, which is the most common reason a pre-loaded copy appears locked.

If you played the open beta, your first three hours of progress carry into the full release, so you can pick up where that build ended rather than starting the prologue from scratch.
