Anime Origins: How to Get Every Secret Unit

Summon odds, Rift pity thresholds, and the full Modora questline for all three Secret Units.

Summon odds, Rift pity thresholds, and the full Modora questline for all three Secret Units.

Secret is the top rarity in Anime Origins, and the game only has three units sitting there right now: Modora, Valcrad, and Cursed Lover. Each one comes from a completely different system, so there is no single grind that gets you all three. One is a banner pull, one is a timed world event, and one is a multi-stage questline that can take days.

Quick answer: Reach Level 10 first. Then summon for Valcrad on the banner (guaranteed at 10,000 summons), clear Rifts for Cursed Lover (guaranteed on your 40th clear), and finish the Modora’s Tablet questline to earn the Key of the Ghost and beat Hidden Sand Ghost’s Trial II for Modora.

Level 10 is the hard requirement for Secret Units

No Secret Unit can be summoned or obtained below player Level 10. Story Mode is the fastest way there, since stages award EXP on both Normal and Hard, and each difficulty has its own first-clear rewards. Daily Challenges add another 500 EXP on top.

You can inspect all of them before you commit resources. Talk to Raiden, the NPC on the right side of the Summoning room in Anime Origins, to open the Unit Index. It lists six Secret entries rather than three, because every evolved form is counted as a separate unit.

Valcrad: the only Secret Unit on the summon banner

Valcrad is built on Alucard from Hellsing, and he is the one Secret you can pull directly. Hit the summon button on the left of your screen, or walk into the Summoning room and speak to Mysa in the middle of it. Summons cost Gems, and the odds are brutal: roughly 0.1% per pull, with some listings putting it as low as 1 in 10,000.

The safety net is the Secret Pity, which triggers at 10,000 summons and hands you Valcrad outright. Use Lucky Potions before a session to improve your odds, and stockpile Gems from daily and weekly quests, playtime rewards, daily logins, battle pass levels, the AFK Chamber, and normal Story and Raid runs.

Note: chasing pity is expensive. Ten thousand summons is a long-term project, so it is worth spending Gems on Beginner and standard banners for a functional team first rather than dumping everything into a Secret hunt.

Cursed Lover: farm Rifts and let the 40-clear pity finish it

Cursed Lover is the Yuta Okkotsu stand-in from Jujutsu Kaisen, and he only comes out of the Rift game mode. Rifts spawn on the map every three hours and stay open for 30 minutes, with a countdown in the bottom-right corner of the screen telling you when the next one is due.

The drop chance on a cleared Rift is about 2%, so expect a long run of empty clears. The pity system caps it: complete 40 Rifts and the unit is guaranteed. Since the mode is on a fixed timer, the practical limit is how many spawn windows you can catch in a day, and Rift currency also buys fusion chips, rerolls, and evolution materials in the Rift shop while you wait.

Modora: the Hidden Sand questline, start to finish

Modora is the Madara Uchiha unit, and he is by far the hardest Secret to obtain. There is no drop chance to farm and no pity counter. The route is fixed: get Modora’s Tablet, clear all 14 quests inside it to earn the Key of the Ghost, then use the key to enter Hidden Sand Ghost’s Trial II and win.

Getting Modora’s Tablet from the SND-4 artifact

Clear every story stage to unlock the Legend Stages, then farm Hidden Sand’s Legend Stage 3. The SND-4 artifact has a 50% chance to drop each time you complete it.
Take the SND-4 to Robyn and refine it before you run the artifact stage. Unrefined, Modora’s Tablet drops at 2%. Fully refined, that climbs to 10%.
Run the artifact stage with three other players. If another player pulls Modora’s Tablet as the completion reward, you can claim a copy for yourself, which effectively quadruples your chances per run.

All 14 Modora’s Tablet quests

Most of these require Sosuke, Noroto, or other Naruto-themed units, so build that roster before you start. Completing the final quest is what releases the Key of the Ghost.

Crafting the Ghost Gunbai

This is the bottleneck quest. You need three separate crafting parts, each locked behind its own artifact at a 2% drop rate, plus 9,500 Coins to assemble them. Bring a full group to every artifact stage for the same shared-claim benefit.

MaterialArtifactDrop rate
Gunbai StaffSND-12%
Gunbai BaseSND-22%
Gunbai BandageSND-32%

Once all three are in your inventory, craft the Ghost Gunbai and use it to clear the Ghost’s Trial for The Warring Ghost quest.

Clearing Hidden Sand Ghost’s Trial II

Finish every Tablet quest to receive the Key of the Ghost. The key is the only way into the final stage.
Use the key to teleport into Hidden Sand Ghost’s Trial II and clear it. Modora is awarded on completion, and the unit appears in your collection with its stats and obtained date, which is how you confirm the questline registered.

The developers have acknowledged that Trial II landed harder than intended and plan to tune it down. No date for that change has been confirmed, so if you would rather not fight the current version, hold the key until the adjustment lands.

Evolving Secret Units at the Mokito NPC

Every Secret has a stronger evolved form with a different ability set, which is why the index shows six entries. Valcrad becomes Valcrad (Unleashed), Modora becomes Modora (Edo Tensei), and Cursed Lover becomes Cursed Lover (Pure Love).

You need the base version first. Head to the Evolve room, wedged between the Challenge and Leaderboard rooms, and talk to Mokito. Evolutions cost Remnants, which drop from Challenges, plus unit-specific materials farmed from Legend Stages or bought in the World Boss, Rift, and Raid shops.

Secret Unit abilities compared

UnitKey passives and ability
ModoraHeaven’s Pressure drops a Susanoo Blade every five attacks for 75% Damage in an AoE and applies Calamity for six seconds. Susanoo Time starts at 20 seconds and extends by three, ten, or 15 seconds per normal enemy, Mini Boss, or Boss, up to 180 seconds. Susanoo Ribcage has a 50% chance to block debuffs and Crowd Control for three seconds. Heaven Splitter deals 500% Damage at triple Range.
ValcradThird Eye grants 15% Crit Chance, and each crit permanently adds 1% Range up to 10%. Bloodthirst adds 3% Damage per bleeding enemy in range, capped at 10%. Coffin Trap seals and Stuns a Boss for seven seconds, once per Boss, on an 18-second placement cooldown.
Cursed LoverLingering Queen’s Heads manifests a Cursed Head every six attacks, with a 30% chance for two, each dealing 85% Damage in a small AoE. Copy stores up to four copyable Active Abilities from other units, keeping their original effects and cooldowns. Love Beam strikes five times in a wide line for 300% total Damage.

If you are picking one to chase, Cursed Lover is the most predictable: 40 Rift clears is a finite number, and Rifts run on a schedule you can plan around. Valcrad is pure Gem economy, so it rewards steady daily farming rather than a focused push. Modora sits at the other end entirely, gated behind artifact RNG and a trial that is still waiting on a difficulty pass.
