Wild Horse Islands is in the middle of its biggest milestone yet: the Throwback Event, a celebration built around the game’s 100th major update. It runs through August 28, 2026, dropping players onto a nostalgia-themed Throwback Island where discontinued items and older versions of the game’s islands return for a limited window. Throwback Event (live now)
The Throwback Event is the headline right now, live through August 28, 2026. It marks 100 major updates by opening Throwback Island, a recreation of Wild Horse Islands in its early style, alongside throwback versions of Forest Island, Mountain Island, and Wild Island. Players can hunt down all 100 Update Cards to unlock exclusive rewards and pick up discontinued items that are only available while the event lasts. It has pulled the most interest of any current entry, with about 56,000 players marking they’re going, and it has about 4 days left left before the island closes.
Welsh Cob
Up next, the Welsh Cob arrives on August 28, 2026, and stays available through September 18. It’s a new common-tier horse, so it’s an accessible addition aimed at players of any level rather than a gated event. It takes over the schedule the same afternoon the Throwback Event wraps.
Dragon’s Lair
The most anticipated item on the calendar is Dragon’s Lair, opening September 18, 2026, and running to October 2. It adds dragon-themed activities and minigames with matching rewards, and unlike a seasonal event it’s a permanent addition to the game. There’s one catch: players need to reach level 600 to enter. It has drawn far and away the largest interest of anything upcoming, with about 120,000 players flagging it — more than double the next-closest event.
Autumn and Halloween events
Two seasonal celebrations follow in the fall. The Autumn Event opens October 2, 2026, and the Halloween Event joins it on October 23; both run into mid-November. The developer hasn’t announced what either will include yet, so their specifics are still to come.
Black Forest Horse
In mid-November, the Black Forest Horse — a new rare-tier horse — becomes available, running from November 13 to December 4, 2026. It sits a step above the Welsh Cob in rarity and closes out the game’s 2026 lineup.
Looking further ahead: early 2027
Happy Acres has already mapped out the start of 2027. Magical Forest Part 2, described as a cursed expansion into the darker side of the Magical Forest, is set for January 8 to 29, 2027. The Lusitano, a new Epic-tier breed, follows from January 29 to February 12. Later, the Knabstrupper — a very rare breed — is scheduled for March 26 to April 23, 2027. These windows sit further out and are more likely to shift, but they’re already on the calendar.
Recently ended: Summer Carnival
The most recent event to wrap was the Summer Carnival, a seasonal celebration stocked with limited items, accessories, and horses. It ran from July 17 to August 14, 2026, when the Throwback Event took over, and drew tens of thousands of interested players before closing.
