SEGA has shown the first look at online multiplayer for Crazy Taxi: World Tour, the returning arcade racer set to launch in 2027. The reveal centers on two competitive modes, Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies, and it lines up with a closed network test that lets a small group of players try the modes before release.
Quick answer: Apply for the Crazy Taxi: World Tour Closed Network Test on SEGA’s official page before August 31. If selected, you can play Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies from September 11 to 13 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies multiplayer modes
The multiplayer turns the open city into a shared space where drivers compete for the same fares, hunt for shortcuts, and fight for control of the streets. Two modes are confirmed so far.
| Mode | How it works |
|---|---|
| Pickup Race | Up to six players race against the clock across the open map to drop off as many passengers as possible. The player who earns the most cash wins. |
| Cops ‘N’ Cabbies | Players are split into two teams that compete against each other. |
Both modes can be played in ranked or custom matches, and cross-play is supported across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The Closed Network Test is a limited online test built to check the game’s stability ahead of launch. It focuses only on multiplayer, so the single-player story campaign is not part of it.

How to apply for the closed test
Note: Registering does not confirm a spot. If you are not selected, you will still be able to play everything at the game’s full 2027 release.

Characters and returning soundtrack
Axel leads the cast again, and he is joined by returning favorites Gena, B.D. Joe, and Gus, all racing through the San Francisco-inspired West Coast map. The multiplayer trailer runs to Bad Religion’s “Ten in 2010,” a track pulled straight from the original game’s soundtrack.
Other classic songs confirmed to return include “All I Want” and “Change the World” by The Offspring, plus “Them and Us” and “Inner Logic” by Bad Religion. SEGA has said more soundtrack details, including new artists, will follow.
Platforms, release window, and the full game
Crazy Taxi: World Tour is set to release in 2027 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2, and it is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. It is available to wishlist on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and PS5.
Beyond the online modes, the finished game adds a story-driven World Tour Campaign starring Axel as he tracks down the masked villains who stole his taxi, traveling across five global cities. A classic Arcade Mode also returns, tasking players with earning the most cash before time runs out.
