Win main races as team principal to claim 1,000 Stellar Jade and the four-star Race to the Horizon light cone.

Win main races as team principal to claim 1,000 Stellar Jade and the four-star Race to the Horizon light cone.

Overdrive: Whirlwind Grand Prix is the headline event of Honkai Star Rail 4.5, and it hands out a full four-star light cone, Race to the Horizon, plus every copy of its superimposition material. Instead of fighting turn-based battles, you run a racing crew as team principal, hire drivers, upgrade the car, and win races to hit the reward thresholds.

Quick answer: Win 3 main races to unlock Race to the Horizon, then reach 5, 8, 11, and 14 total main-race wins to collect all four Celebration Champagne superimposition materials before the event closes on September 28, 2026.

Main-race wins needed for Race to the Horizon and Celebration Champagne

Every reward tied to the light cone is gated behind cumulative main-race victories. The light cone itself arrives at three wins, and each additional Celebration Champagne unlocks at a set total. You confirm each unlock on the event page, where the reward claims from locked to available once you clear its win count.

RewardRequirement
Race to the Horizon (4-star light cone)Win 3 main races
Celebration Champagne x1Win 5 total main races
Celebration Champagne x1Win 8 total main races
Celebration Champagne x1Win 11 total main races
Celebration Champagne x1Win 14 total main races

Note: The four Celebration Champagne copies are the superimposition material for Race to the Horizon, so clearing all 14 wins raises the light cone to its maximum superimposition level.

How to win races in Overdrive: Whirlwind Grand Prix

The event runs in seasons, and you build up points by winning races across a schedule of days. Each day falls into one of three types, and only Race days actually put you on the track.

Day typeWhat happens
RaceYou take part in a race. The driver accelerates on their own, so your job is to steer through corners, use abilities, and secure the win.
R&DYou pick a car customization, then select the upgrades needed to reach the points that customization requires.
HighlightA status check that shows your team’s current rank and points alongside the other competitors.
On a Race day, watch each upcoming corner and press the Drift button on the bottom-left of the screen. Hold the drift into the turn and release it just before the corner ends to keep your speed.
Bump into rival racers to knock them off the racing line and pull ahead. Keep drifting through corners, since every drift fills your charge bar.
When the charge bar is full, trigger the boost to overtake every nearby competitor at once. Combine boosts with clean drifting to lock in first place.
On R&D days, choose the customization that matches the stat you need most. Each option lists the stats it raises, so you can steer upgrades toward faster cornering or higher top speed before the next Race day.

Between races, keep hiring better drivers whenever they become available and keep upgrading the car. Stronger drivers and a better-tuned car make each main-race win easier, which is what pushes you toward the 14-win ceiling.

Unlock requirements and event window

Overdrive: Whirlwind Grand Prix went live with the version 4.5 update on August 26, 2026, and it runs until September 28, 2026, right before the patch ends. You reach it through the Finality’s Vision feature as soon as the event opens.

For a smoother run, reach Trailblaze Level 21 and finish the Trailblaze Continuance mission “How to Lose Your Way to the Top: The Zero-Dollar Strategy” before diving in. These are recommended rather than hard locks, but they set up the intended experience.

What Race to the Horizon does

Race to the Horizon is a The Hunt light cone built around follow-up attacks. At Superimposition Level 1 it increases the wearer’s ATK by 12%. After the wearer uses a Follow-Up ATK, their CRIT DMG rises by 3% for two turns, and that effect stacks up to 10 times.

Because the CRIT DMG bonus stacks off follow-up attacks, the light cone rewards Hunt characters that trigger follow-ups frequently. Each Celebration Champagne you earn from the win milestones raises its superimposition level, scaling both the ATK boost and the CRIT DMG stacking higher.

Once you hit three main-race wins, the light cone appears as claimable on the event reward track, and every later milestone adds a Champagne copy the same way. Keep racing until you have logged 14 wins to walk away with the light cone fully leveled and the full 1,000 Stellar Jade in hand before the event ends.
