Breathedge 2: How to Unlock the Fighter Achievement (+5 Cold Protection)

Fighter is one of the stranger permanent upgrades in Breathedge 2’s Chapter 1, and it takes about a minute to earn once you know where to look. It lives in the icy canyon below the Outskirts train station, inside a wrecked bus, and it hands you a flat +5 Cold Protection for picking a fight with an old woman over a window.

Quick answer: Leave the Outskirts train station, fly forward and slightly left down into the canyon, board the crashed red-and-white bus, and use the Pry open prompt on the window Granny is holding until her arm tears off.

What the Fighter achievement gives you

Achievements in Breathedge 2 are not just badges. Each one attaches a permanent stat bonus to your character, and you can read the full list under the Achievements tab in your menu. Fighter’s bonus is cold resistance, which makes it one of the more practical early pickups given how much of Chapter 1 pushes you into freezing terrain.

Prepare your suit before dropping into the canyon

The canyon is cold enough to hurt you while you fumble around looking for the bus. Swap your suit pieces at the wardrobe on the train first and get some real insulation on your torso and arms. Foam pieces and the Knitted Teddy Bear chest are the strongest early options, and Cardboard fills the leftover leg slots.

You do not need to be sitting at 100 Cold Protection for this trip, but a bare suit will start throwing frostbite warnings quickly. Note that insulation carries side effects, so check the numbers before you commit. Foam raises satiety drain, and the teddy bear chest costs you armor while adding radiation protection.

Tip: know where the nearest working heater is before you descend. Damaged protection pieces stop providing their listed value, and a long return flight with a broken suit turns into hypothermia fast.

Where to find the crashed bus in the Outskirts

Head out through the exit of the Outskirts train station. You want to be outside in open space, not still working through the interior corridors.

Fly forward and angle slightly to the left, then start descending. The route drops away from the station platform into the icy canyon below, so keep going down rather than following the rails outward.

Look for a platform with two square structures on it, then check underneath. The bus sits below that platform, and it is easy to spot once you are at the right depth thanks to its red and white paint.

How to trigger Fighter on the Granny NPC

Move inside the bus past the “DO NOT LEAN ON DOOR” signage. Granny is seated in the cabin, gripping a window she clearly has no intention of letting you touch.

Aim at the window she is holding until the Pry open prompt appears alongside her name. The prompt is tied to the window, not to Granny herself, so reposition slightly if you only see the label without an action.

Use the interaction repeatedly. It takes roughly three attempts, and each pull moves the window a little further before she yanks it back.

Keep going until her arm detaches. That is the moment the game registers the requirement as complete.

How to confirm the achievement unlocked

You get an immediate on-screen banner reading “NEW ACHIEVEMENT! FIGHTER” the instant the arm comes off, followed by a line of dialogue about really getting her. If you missed the popup, open your inventory and switch to the Achievements tab. The Fighter entry lists its requirement, the “Cold protection +5 for the lord of the open window” bonus, and the date you earned it.

The stat itself applies permanently and immediately. Check your suit screen and your Cold Protection total should read five points higher than it did before the trip.

Why the Fighter achievement may not trigger

There are only a couple of ways to come away empty-handed here.

You stopped after one or two pulls. The window resists more than once, and nothing unlocks until the arm actually breaks.
You interacted with Granny or the seat instead of the window. Only the Pry open prompt counts.
You retreated because of cold damage before finishing. Warm up, fix or replace the damaged suit pieces, and come back.

How +5 Cold Protection fits into your suit total

Chapter 1 eventually asks you to reach 100 Cold Protection before the colder routes become practical, and that number is normally built from equipped suit parts at the wardrobe. Achievement bonuses sit on top of that, which means Fighter effectively buys you back a small piece of insulation you would otherwise have to wear.

That matters more than five points sounds like. Every insulation piece drags along a downside, whether it is faster hunger drain from Foam or reduced armor from the teddy bear chest, so a free five points lets you drop one marginal piece and keep the protection you actually need for other hazards.

Fighter is worth grabbing early rather than saving for a cleanup run, since the bonus compounds across every cold trip you take afterward. Sort your insulation at the wardrobe, make the short flight down, and go win an argument you were never going to lose.
