The Blood of Dawnwalker: Isbrand’s Greaves Legendary Armor Location

Where the Kobold Nest chest sits, what the run costs you in time, and how to confirm the pickup landed.

Isbrand’s Greaves are the easiest Legendary armor piece to grab in the opening hours of The Blood of Dawnwalker. There is no boss, no quest chain, and no unlock condition attached to them. You walk to a marked cave in the southwest of Vale Sangora, deal with a small group of kobolds, and open a chest.

Quick answer: Travel to the Kobold Nest in the southwestern part of the map, south of Rockfall and west of Svartrau City, clear the kobolds inside, and loot the chest to receive Isbrand’s Greaves. The trip costs one day segment.

Isbrand’s Greaves: What the item is and what it costs

Isbrand’s Greaves are Legendary trousers for Coen. They occupy the leg slot, which means they do not compete with a chestpiece such as Ambrus’s Cuirass or with any boots you are running. Because the piece sits in a plain world chest rather than behind a boss or a questline, it is available as soon as free roam opens up.

The 30-day clock in The Blood of Dawnwalker is a budget rather than a real-time timer, so that single day segment is the actual price of the item. It is a small spend for a Legendary piece that carries you well past the early game, and anything you outgrow later can be raised at a blacksmith or armorer.

How to reach the Kobold Nest and open the chest

Open your journal and select the map. You need the full world map rather than the minimap to confirm where the nest sits relative to Rockfall.

Scroll to the southwestern corner of the map and find the Kobold Nest marker, which sits south of Rockfall and west of Svartrau City. Select it and use the Track option so the objective marker stays on your HUD during the approach.

Fast travel to the Gravel Lea shrine and head south on foot. The route runs across open, snowy ground, and the distance counter on your marker ticks down as you close in, so you can confirm you are on the right line without stopping to check the map again.

Crouch as you reach the entrance. The kobolds here are weak, but pulling the whole group at once is the only real way this run goes wrong at a low level, and a slow approach lets you thin them out.

Move through the rocky passage inside the nest, staying crouched where the tunnel narrows. The interior is dark and cramped, so keep your back out of open sightlines while you push toward the chamber at the end.

Clear the remaining kobolds, then loot the chest in the nest. Isbrand’s Greaves are inside. Sweep the rest of the room before you leave, since the surrounding area holds ordinary loot worth picking up on the same trip.

How to confirm you actually got the greaves

The loot prompt names the item directly when you open the chest. After that, check your inventory and look at the trousers slot: the piece appears as Legendary rarity under the name Isbrand’s Greaves, and equipping it swaps out whatever leg armor you were wearing.

You will also see your day tracker advance by one segment for the excursion. If the chest is already empty when you arrive, you looted it on a previous visit and the greaves are sitting somewhere in your inventory.

Common mix-ups that send players to the wrong location

Two other Legendary items have names close enough to send people off course. Isbrand’s Plate is a separate Legendary chestpiece, and it does not drop here at all — it comes from a chest in the chamber where you find Isbrand during Lacra’s Hive and Seek quest, and you have to loot it before you free him and leave. Ancient Greaves are a different Legendary trousers piece entirely, tied to the end of the Stronger Than Achilles quest and to a choice about the Font of Life.

Note: the Kobold Nest chest and the Hive and Seek chamber are separate locations, even though both involve kobolds and both carry the Isbrand name. Clearing one does not affect the other.

The only other Legendary trousers in the game, the Enhanced Shin Guards of the Arbiter, arrive as a reward for finishing A Bulwark Against Darkness. That puts Isbrand’s Greaves in an unusual spot for a Legendary piece — it is the one leg option you can secure long before any of your gear is gated behind a boss fight or a completed questline, which is exactly why it belongs near the top of an early-run checklist.
