The Blood of Dawnwalker: Bandits’s Treasure Map Location in Briar Sloughs

Where the bandit camp chest holds the map, the exact dig site in the marsh, and every reward in the buried chest.

Treasure Map: Briar Sloughs is one of the buried-stash activities in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it works in two parts. You loot a sketch from a bandit camp in the wooded north of Vale Sangora, then carry it south into the marsh and dig at the landmark it draws. The payoff is a Master-tier ring, a Master light chestpiece, a skill manual, and a stack of coin.

Quick answer: Loot Treasure Map: Briar Sloughs from the wooden chest at the small bandit campsite in the northern forest, then travel south into the Briar Sloughs marsh and dig at the base of the large dead tree to unearth the chest.

Where to find Treasure Map: Briar Sloughs

The map sits in a bandit camp loot chest in the forested northern stretch of Vale Sangora. It is a small campsite rather than a fortified hideout, so it is easy to ride past without noticing the chest tucked between the tents.

Clear the campsite in the northern forest before you start looting. Fighting mid-interaction cancels the animation and wastes your approach.
Open the wooden chest at the camp. Alongside Treasure Map: Briar Sloughs, it holds an Adrenaline Rush Manual, a Minor Vitality Balm, a Ruby Brooch, and a handful of Denarius, so take the lot.

Open your inventory and inspect the map. Its entry reads that it marks a secret stash likely filled with valuables, and picking it up adds the Bandits’s Treasure Map: Briar Sloughs objective to your journal. No NPC hands you this activity.

Where the treasure is buried in Briar Sloughs

The stash is nowhere near the camp. The sketch points south, into the swampy Briar Sloughs, well away from the forest where you found it. Read the drawing against your world map and set a marker before you set off, because the marsh has few clean landmarks to steer by.

The dig site itself is a large dead tree standing in the wetland. It is bare and noticeably taller than the scrub around it, which makes it readable from a distance even in poor light. The buried chest is directly at its base, not off to one side.

Note: You need a shovel in Coen’s inventory to excavate buried treasure. If you have skipped every earlier dig, pick one up before making the trip south, and use Focus Mode near the tree if the interaction prompt is not immediately visible.

Rewards from the Briar Sloughs stash

Interacting with the ground at the tree digs out a hidden chest. Opening it hands over the full haul in one go.

The gambeson and the ring are the reason to make the trip. Both are Master-tier, and at 115 Armour the chestpiece is a meaningful jump for a light build in the early hours of the game.

How to confirm the activity is complete

Bandits’s Treasure Map: Briar Sloughs closes the moment you open the unearthed chest, not when you finish digging. The journal entry updates to completed and the loot lands in your inventory in the same interaction.

If nothing happens at the dead tree, the cause is almost always one of two things. Either the map is not in your inventory yet, so the activity was never added to the journal, or you are standing without a shovel and the dig prompt cannot appear. Sort both out and the interaction becomes available at the base of the trunk.

Digging consumes in-game time, which matters in a game built around a ticking clock, so it is worth batching this run with other business in the southern marsh rather than riding down for a single chest.
