Far Far West: What Are Blueprints Used For?

Blueprints are the mission currency in Far Far West, and once you own the full weapon roster they stop having an obvious purpose. Players sitting on hundreds of them — 362 in one late-game save at level 74 — end up wondering whether the pile is dead weight. It is not.

Quick answer: Blueprints buy weapons now, and they will be the currency for weapon skins when that feature ships in Q1 2027, so keep banking them after your weapon list is complete.

What blueprints buy in Far Far West right now

Blueprints come from missions. You spend them at the vendor to unlock and upgrade weapons, and the in-game tooltip already spells out the second use: they are “Used to buy weapons or weapon skins.” The skin half of that sentence is simply not live yet.

It helps to keep the three spending currencies straight, because they are not interchangeable and only one of them is tied to weapons and cosmetics for those weapons.

The “SKINS (SOON)” button and the Q1 2027 date

Open any weapon in the loadout menu — the Lasso, the Leveredge, the Quad Cylinder — and you will see a SKINS (SOON) option sitting under the customization row. The button is already in the interface, labeled as pending, which is the clearest sign that blueprints have a second sink coming.

The official roadmap lists Weapon Skins as a Feature with the period marked “Q1 2027.” No exact release day or time has been confirmed beyond that quarter, so treat the window as the whole target rather than a countdown. You will know the feature has gone live when that button drops the “(SOON)” tag and opens a selectable skin list.

Weapon skins will be new 3D models, not recolors

This is the part that matters for anyone deciding whether to hoard. The planned skins are fully distinct 3D models rather than palette swaps of the base gun. An early work-in-progress version of a bone-and-skull Quad Cylinder shows the intent — a different silhouette entirely, not a repainted barrel.

The scale follows the same model-based approach already used for character skins and mounts, where cosmetics like the Flash McQueen V6 Ultra Turbo are built as their own objects. With 13 weapons in the game and roughly three skins planned per weapon, that works out to at least 39 unique models to build, which explains why the feature sits a couple of quarters out.

Don’t dump blueprints into the wrong systems

The Gamba machine is the most common distraction. It pulls a random Joker for 250 souls per draw — a Fine Joker such as Care Package, which grants +1 Utility Ammo and is equipped at the hero shop — and it never touches your blueprint balance. Souls come from kills, so grinding the Gamba does nothing to your blueprint stock either way.

Gold is the other one to keep separate. It comes from raising Prestige and buys weapons or hero levels, which means a weapon you could have bought with gold is a weapon you did not have to spend blueprints on. If you are close to finishing the roster, leaning on gold for the last purchases leaves a larger blueprint reserve for skins.

There is no cap or decay to worry about, and nothing else currently competes for blueprints once the weapon list is complete. Keep running missions, let the total climb, and the balance turns into skin purchases the moment that button unlocks.
