The Blood of Dawnwalker: Pearly and Precious Full Quest Walkthrough

Track the bandits from the ruined camp south of Small Bridge Shrine and open up the sanzhana as a vendor.

Track the bandits from the ruined camp south of Small Bridge Shrine and open up the sanzhana as a vendor.

Pearly and Precious is a short side quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker that ends with one of the more useful vendors in the game. It starts with an abandoned camp, a blood trail, and a tooth-hoarding sanzhana who has a working arrangement with the local bandits. Sort out the bandits, hand over a tooth, and she starts trading with you permanently.

Quick answer: Investigate the ruined camp south of Small Bridge Shrine with Focus Mode, follow the drag marks to the sanzhana, track the footprints south to the bandit camp at Boar’s Back, kill the bandits, loot the Shiny Tooth, then return and trade it to her to unlock her shop.

Pearly and Precious quest requirements and rewards

The quest sits in the sanzhani questline, so it will not appear until you have finished Good Home. There is no fail state once it starts, and it costs a single Time Segment, which makes it cheap even on a tight schedule.

Full walkthrough: From the abandoned camp to the bandits

Fast travel to Small Bridge Shrine and head directly south until you reach the wrecked camp. Approach it to start the quest, then hold Focus Mode (L2 on PlayStation, LT on Xbox) and inspect the disturbed ground. Coen picks out blood and heavy drag marks running south into the trees.
Keep Focus Mode active and follow the highlighted drag marks deeper into the woods. The trail is continuous, so you can simply chain from one marked patch to the next rather than checking the map.

The trail ends at a mushroom circle with two corpses in it, where a sanzhana is calmly foraging for teeth. Talk to her. She explains that a nearby band of outlaws dumps bodies in the forest and that she trades with them for what is left in their mouths.
The objective updates to Confront the bandits. Use Focus Mode again near the bodies to pick up footprints and a torn scrap of cloth, both heading south to southwest. Follow them out of the mushroom clearing.

The tracks lead to a bandit camp at Boar’s Back. Walk in and a dialogue plays out where the outlaws size you up and threaten you. There is no peaceful branch here worth chasing, and the conversation ends in a fight either way.

Kill the group of bandits. It is a straightforward three-on-one brawl with no boss mechanics and no phase changes, so either form works.
Loot the bodies and the camp containers before you leave. The one item you must not skip is the Shiny Tooth, since that is what you trade to the sanzhana.

The camp is a decent haul for a one-segment quest. Clearing the bodies and the surrounding containers turns up:

  • Shiny Tooth
  • Weak Spirits
  • Denarius
  • Vial of Human Blood
  • Common Yarrow
  • Corruption Ward
  • Amalgam Manual
  • Golden Brooch and Silver Brooch
  • Broken Boots and Simple Leather Shoes
  • Rotten Apple

Return to the sanzhana and unlock the vendor

Travel back to the sanzhana at her burrow and tell her the bandits are dead. She takes the news well, mostly because her only real concern is the supply of teeth drying up. She asks you to bring her more, and that request is what opens her trade menu.

Trade the Shiny Tooth to finish the exchange. From then on she buys teeth from you, which drop mainly from zombie enemies, and she sells a small stock of manuals and curiosities.

Silk Threads is the reason to care. It is a component for the Arbiter Armour set, so if you are chasing that set, buy it here rather than assuming it will show up elsewhere.

How to confirm the quest completed

Completion is easy to verify. Once you trade with the sanzhana, the quest closes out with an XP payout and 1 Skill Point, her merchant inventory opens, and the journal entry moves out of your active objectives. If her shop menu will not open, you have not handed over the tooth yet.

Two things commonly go wrong. If the quest never triggers, you have most likely not finished Good Home, or you have not walked close enough to the ruined camp to fire the initial investigation. If you cannot complete the trade, check that the Shiny Tooth is still in your inventory and has not been sold to another vendor.

One last thing worth knowing before you walk away: if you skip her stock now, the sanzhana relocates to Yawning Burrow with the others, where you can still buy and sell from her later. Nothing is lost, but the trip is longer, so it is worth spending your coins while you are already standing in front of her.
