Slayers 2 Sound Breathing: Every Move Explained

A breakdown of all six Sound Breathing abilities, their block-breaking rules, and how they chain in PvP.

A breakdown of all six Sound Breathing abilities, their block-breaking rules, and how they chain in PvP.

Sound Breathing is one of the reworked styles arriving with Slayers 2, and the developer’s release-prep showcase walks through the full moveset before launch. It is an explosive, dual-sword style built around bead detonations, stuns, and a long grab-style finisher. Six abilities were demonstrated in full, followed by a live duel that shows how they actually connect.

Quick answer: Sound Breathing in Slayers 2 has six moves — Bursting Bloom, Roar, Exploding Beads (long range), Exploding Beads (close range), Resounding Slashes, and String Performance — and the close-range Exploding Beads is the only one confirmed to disable an opponent’s block when it lands.

Every ability is tied to the dual cleaver-style swords the style issues. The table below covers what each move does and the one property that matters most when you are deciding whether to press it.

MoveWhat it doesKey property
Bursting BloomDashes forward and slashes anything in the path, with an explosion on impactStuns without ragdolling, so follow-ups stay connected
RoarSlams both swords into the ground for a small explosionKnocks nearby opponents away
Exploding Beads (long range)Throws a spread of beads that hover in placeDetonates on enemy contact or when you press the key again
Exploding Beads (close range)Drops a large laced smoke bomb, backflips away, then ignites it with a slashDisables the opponent’s block if it lands
Resounding SlashesA flurry of slashes mixed with explosive beadsEnds in a strong knockback
String PerformanceRushing barrage of rotating slashes and explosive strikes, then a teleport behind the targetFinishes with vertical spinning slashes and a blazing cross-cut

Bursting Bloom and Roar: Opening and spacing

Bursting Bloom is the approach tool. You cover ground quickly, slash anyone caught along the way, and the explosion on impact stuns rather than ragdolls. That distinction matters, because a ragdoll would send the target flying out of range and end the sequence early. Here, the opponent stays put and in reach.

Roar does the opposite job. Slamming both swords into the ground produces a small explosion that pushes nearby opponents away, which makes it a reset button when someone is sitting on top of you. It creates room instead of extending pressure.

Exploding Beads: Long-range mines and the block breaker

Exploding Beads splits into two very different tools depending on range. At distance, you throw a barrage of beads that hang in the air like mines. They go off when an enemy touches them, or you can press the key again to set them off manually. That gives you a zoning option and a delayed trigger you control.

Up close, the move becomes something else entirely. You drop a giant laced smoke bomb, backflip away from it, and ignite it mid-retreat with a slash. This is the variant that disables the opponent’s block on hit, which makes it the opener against anyone turtling behind guard.

Tip: because the close-range version pushes you backwards before it detonates, it doubles as an escape. You leave the bomb where you were standing and the explosion covers your retreat.

Resounding Slashes and String Performance: The damage enders

Resounding Slashes is the mid-combo damage dump. It chains rapid slashes with explosive beads and closes on a hard knockback, so it is a natural place to end a string rather than something to open with.

String Performance is the long one. You rush forward with rotating slashes and explosive strikes, and on contact the character blitzes behind the target, leaps over them with a series of vertical spinning slashes, and finishes with a burning cross-cut. It is the most cinematic move in the set and the one with the longest commitment attached.

Sound Breathing in PvP

The showcase ends with a live duel, shown from both players’ perspectives, with health bars, level indicators, combo counters, and damage numbers on screen. The HUD tracks Sound Mastery and Sword Mastery as separate progress bars, and dashing is bound to Q plus a WASD direction, which is what stitches the moves together between hits.

The practical loop is straightforward. Break guard with the close-range bead ignition, close the gap with Bursting Bloom’s non-ragdoll stun, run damage through Resounding Slashes, and use Roar when you need the opponent off you. Long-range beads fill the gaps, since they stay live on the field until something touches them or you detonate them yourself.

What changed from Sound Breathing in Project Slayers

Sound Breathing originally arrived in Project Slayers with Update 1.5, using amber blades and a six-slot moveset unlocked through the Sound Trainer. Three names carry over into the sequel, but two of the older slots have been folded into the new Exploding Beads pair.

Part 1 move (keybind)MasteryStatus in Slayers 2 showcase
Bursting Bloom (Z)1Returns, now a dash-and-stun opener
Roar (X)26Returns as a knockback explosion
Resounding Slashes (C)32Returns with beads worked into the flurry
Explosive Impact (V)40Not shown; beads cover the explosive role
Smoke Screen (B)50Reworked into Exploding Beads (close range)
String Performance (N)60Returns with a teleport and cross-cut finisher

In the original game, the style was picked up from the Sound Trainer at the peak of Sound Cave and required level 75, 13,000 Wen, and 150 Demon horns, with String Performance locked behind beating Tengen. Slayers 2 rebuilds every style from the ground up, so those older unlock conditions should not be assumed to carry across.

Slayers 2 release date and time

Slayers 2 launches on September 18, 2026 at 4PM EST on Roblox. The date was confirmed on September 7, after a run of showcases through late August and early September covering Flame Breathing, the Tanto Knife and Claws, Tamari Balls, Wind Breathing, Dream Manipulation, and Cryokinesis. Sound Breathing is part of that same final push before launch.

Note: progress does not transfer from Project Slayers, since Slayers 2 is a separate game. Rare clans and gamepasses have been described as possible carry-overs, but levels and grind reset.

Taken together, the rework leans harder into the explosive identity than the original did. The bead system replaces the old smoke and projectile slots with one move that changes behaviour by range, and the stun on Bursting Bloom is the detail that holds the rest of the kit together. Mastery values and unlock requirements for the sequel version have not been detailed yet, so the six moves and their properties are what is confirmed heading into launch week.
