Alpha Irisal is the oversized, miniboss version of the Grass dancer Irisal, and beating it is the gate that lets Iris evolve into Irisal. The fight is short and pattern-based, so once you know the beam timing and bring the right damage type, it goes down quickly.

Quick answer: Head south of Sea of Flowers Bloom, wait out Alpha Irisal’s four rotating beams by standing in the gaps, then unload on it during the stun that follows to break and defeat it.

Alpha Irisal location in Sea of Flowers

Alpha Irisal appears in the Sea of Flowers, just south of the Sea of Flowers Bloom. It sits in the open as a large Grass-type target, so you can walk up and start the fight once you are ready.

Team setup before the fight

Alpha Irisal is a Grass Aniimo, and a Grass defender takes extra damage from Fire, Dark, and Wind. Building your squad around those elements shortens the fight and makes each opening count.

  • Bring a DPS Aniimo that attacks with Fire, Dark, or Wind to hit the weakness.
  • Add a Break Aniimo so you can stagger it fast during its vulnerable window.
  • Slot a healer or Regen unit in case the fight runs long.
  • Check your level first; alpha bosses scale up as you progress, and the earliest ones already expect you to be around level 13.

Rotate low Aniimo out before they get knocked out rather than waiting. Losing your whole team mid-fight forces a full restart.

How to beat Alpha Irisal

Alpha Irisal’s signature move creates four beams at set angles, which sweep around the boss. The hits deal heavy damage, but the readable pattern means positioning matters more than defense.

When the beams appear, note the four gaps between them and step into one of those safe wedges.
As the beams start to turn, move with the rotation and stay inside the gap. Match its speed so you never cross a beam.
Once the attack ends, Alpha Irisal becomes vulnerable and cannot act. Use this window to break it and deal as much damage as possible before it recovers, then repeat the cycle until it falls.

If a first attempt fails, watch how the beams open and close so you can read the gaps sooner on the next run. Clean dodging during the beam phase is what keeps the fight safe.

Catching Alpha Irisal and evolving Iris

Catching an alpha works differently from a normal wild encounter. You do not weaken it and throw mid-battle. Instead, you must fully defeat Alpha Irisal first, after which the game hands you a free Aniipod to attempt the catch.

A failed capture still lets you keep the first clear rewards if the Aniipod was used. Remain on the catch screen, because exiting it gives you nothing.

Beating this boss also unlocks the evolution from Iris to Irisal. With a level 18 Iris and the required Sprout Stone x3, you can then evolve it once the Alpha Irisal clear is registered. That confirmation, plus the reward bundle landing in your inventory, is how you know the fight counted.
