The Sanctum: Stonebound Sword is not something you stumble into while exploring. The ruin platform that summons it sits inert until one very specific Aniimo stands on it, and getting that Aniimo means working through a story quest, a mountain climb, and a level 50 boss first.
Quick answer: Complete the Warrior quest under The Legend of Helmuts and Helgons, evolve Helmut into Pawney, defeat Infergon, then twine with Pawney at the ancient ruin platform and choose “Return the treasure.”
What you need before starting the Stonebound Sword Sanctum
Everything happens in the Russet Highlands, one of the areas inside the Breezy Plains region. You will be catching an Aniimo mid-quest and fighting a boss at the end of it, so bring catching gear and a team that can hold up at level 50.
Access to the Russet Highlands, including the snowy stretch where Helmut spawns.
At least one Anipod Mega for catching the Helmut the quest asks for.
A team capable of clearing a level 50 boss fight solo or with help.
The Warrior quest visible in your Log under the Journey tab.
Open your Log and move to the Journey tab. Pick The Legend of Helmuts and Helgons, then track the Warrior quest, which points you toward the clue about the painter of the Russet Highlands.
Travel to the Russet Highlands and find Sorora standing beside an easel. Talking to her plays the “Mystery of the Damaged Painting” cutscene and formally opens the quest.
Open the map and search for a Helmut. A wild one appears at level 40 in the snowy part of the area. Weaken it and throw an Anipod Mega to add it to your collection.
Catch the Helmut before chasing the story markers. The later steps require you to twine with one, so a failed catch means a long walk back to the snow.
Follow the quest marker to a stone ruin and speak with the Weeping Helmut there. The “Blind Panic” cutscene plays and the creature bolts before you can get anything useful out of it.
Climb to the mountain summit. Helmut is lying exhausted near a cluster of red crystals, and there is an eye-shaped mark on the ground next to it that you need to inspect.
Interact with the Sword of Bravery to begin the “Courage Born of Fear” scene. Pick the courageous dialogue options as they come up. Those choices are what push Helmut through its evolution into Pawney.
A level 50 Infergon spawns the moment the sword comes free. Take it down. This is the hardest gate in the whole chain, and nothing further progresses until Infergon is dead.
After the fight, a Flame Flower grows out of the stone structure. Collect it, then open the chest sitting nearby for Starcrystal Essence, EXP, and Credits.
Twine with Pawney while standing on the platform, then choose “Return the treasure.” The platform activates and the Stonebound Sword Sanctum rises into place.
The unlock is visual and immediate. Picking “Return the treasure” summons the structure right in front of you, replacing the empty ruin platform with an enterable Sanctum entrance, and the Sanctum icon becomes a permanent point of interest on your map.
Once you can load into the Sanctum: Stonebound Sword and open the chest inside, the Warrior quest chain has done its job. Sanctums work by having you repair the vein hidden inside for rewards, so the trip is worth finishing properly rather than popping in for the chest and leaving.
