Project Slayers 2: Water Breathing Trainer Location in Bamboo Grove

The Water Breathing trainer in Project Slayers 2 is not standing in a village square waiting for you. He sits in a sealed room behind a flooded tunnel, and the only way in is a jump off a cliff and a swim under a waterfall. Miss the entrance and you will circle the Bamboo Grove cliffs for a long time.

Quick answer: Swim through the underwater tunnel beneath the Bamboo Grove waterfall, climb the ladder at the end, and speak to Water Trainer Sakonji. Bring Level 25, 5,000 Wen, and 30 Demon Horns.

Water Breathing requirements in Project Slayers 2

Reaching the trainer and unlocking the style are two different things. You can walk the route at any level, but the training questline will not start until you meet all three conditions below.

RequirementAmount
Level25
Wen5,000
Demon Horns30

Demon Horns drop from the demons in the snowy region beside the bear area, and they often drop in pairs. If you are short, farm there first and then make the trip, since the room itself has nothing to grind.

Where the Water Breathing trainer is located

The trainer occupies a hidden room inside the Bamboo Grove Sanctuary, south of Windy Peak. On the in-game map, the sanctuary sits past the Bamboo Grove marker, below the cliff line rather than on it, which is why it is easy to run straight over the top of the entrance.

The NPC inside is labelled Water Trainer Sakonji, the same character shown in some builds as Water Trainer Urokodaki. He stands beside barrels in a small wooden room at the top of a ladder, and the area counts as a safe zone.

Route to the Water Breathing trainer from Windy Peak

Spawn at Windy Peak and run south, down out of the starting area toward the Wilderness. Keep descending until the grass and bamboo of the Bamboo Grove open up in front of you.
Cross the first red wooden bridge. Stay on the path along the grassy cliffs instead of dropping off early, because the lower ground here does not connect to the tunnel.
Cross the second red wooden bridge. This is your confirmation that you are on the correct side of the grove.
Run past the small wooden house on the island below the cliff. That house is the landmark for the entrance, so line yourself up with it before you move.
Jump off the cliff edge into the pool of water at the base of the waterfall. The fall into water does not hurt you.
Swim into the opening beneath the waterfall and follow the flooded tunnel straight through. Keep swimming without stopping to look around.

You can drown in the passage if you linger, so treat it as one continuous swim rather than an exploration detour.

At the end of the tunnel, climb the wooden ladder and enter the room at the top. Water Trainer Sakonji is inside.

Finding the entrance from the bear area instead

If your progression has already taken you to the bear area, you do not need to run back to Windy Peak. Drop down past the bears and head in the opposite direction from the snowy route used for Wind Breathing, then look over the cliff edge for the small house on the island.

From there, move down to the flat ground near the hut and search for the water-filled hole outside it. That hole is the same flooded passage reached by jumping from above, and it puts you at the ladder without the cliff dive.

How to confirm you found the trainer

You have the right spot when the interaction prompt reads Water Trainer Sakonji and the safe zone shield appears on screen. Talking to him opens the requirement check, and paying the cost begins the training objectives.

Standing in front of him is not the unlock. The style only becomes yours after you clear his training tasks, which finish with a duel against the Water Trainee Sabito mini boss.

Other trainers reached from the same bear-area routes

The bear area feeds several trainer paths, so it is worth noting the neighbours while you are out there. All of them share the same Level 25 gate as Water Breathing.

The Thunder route needs Wall Climb unlocked before it is passable, and Stone Breathing also asks you to unlock the Axe and Mace by beating the Stone Trainee.

The Wind trainer is the odd one out, standing on a floating stone platform out in the water of the snowy zone rather than on solid ground.

Once you have swum the tunnel once, the trip back is short, so mark the island house in your head before you leave. Coming back with 5,000 Wen and 30 Demon Horns in hand is far quicker than hunting the waterfall a second time.
