World of Warcraft: A Last Request Quest Guide (Shen’dar Highlands)

Find the Bloody Note, loot both keepsakes in the West Pylon Watchtower, beat Skypriest Aanders, and clear the loot bug.

A Last Request is a short quest in the Shen’dar Highlands that sends you out of Theoldai Village, up a hillside path, and into the West Pylon Watchtower to recover two keepsakes from the dead. It takes only a couple of minutes if nothing goes wrong, and it currently has one bug that can stop you cold at the looting step.

Quick answer: Read the Bloody Note beside Peacekeeper Vaaniel, loot the Shadowsong Family Signet and Raeni’s Lucky Feather inside the West Pylon Watchtower, kill Skypriest Aanders on the top platform, then return to the village.

A Last Request objectives

The quest tracks five things, and they have to happen roughly in this order because the last one only triggers once you are at the top of the tower.

  • Read the Bloody Note on the ground near Peacekeeper Vaaniel
  • Loot the Shadowsong Family Signet from a body in the tower
  • Loot Raeni’s Lucky Feather from a second body nearby
  • Defeat Skypriest Aanders on the watchtower’s top platform
  • Return to Theoldai Village to hand the quest in

Walkthrough: Theoldai Village to the West Pylon Watchtower

Open your map and center on Theoldai Village in the Shen’dar Highlands. The first marker sits just outside the village, close to where Peacekeeper Vaaniel is standing, so you do not need a mount to reach it.
Walk up to the Bloody Note lying on the ground beside Vaaniel and interact with it. Reading the note ticks off the first objective immediately and points you toward the tower.

Follow the cobblestone path uphill out of the village. It leads directly to the West Pylon Watchtower, and there is no detour or side route to worry about.

Enter the base of the tower and head into the lower chamber. Fallen bodies are scattered across the floor here, and two of them are lootable for the quest.
Click both bodies to pick up the Shadowsong Family Signet and Raeni’s Lucky Feather. Each one updates the quest tracker as soon as it lands in your bags.

Take the spiral ramp up to the top platform. Skypriest Aanders spawns when you arrive, and he goes down quickly with a group or with any reasonably geared character.

The ramp has no railing in places. Falling off means climbing the whole tower again, so hug the inside wall on the way up.

Turning in A Last Request and confirming it completed

Once Skypriest Aanders is dead, you can jump straight down from the platform instead of walking back through the tower, then follow the path back down to Theoldai Village. The quest is only finished when the turn-in NPC in the village accepts it and the entry disappears from your quest log.

Before you run back, check that all four objectives show as complete in the tracker. If the note is read and Aanders is dead but one of the two items is still missing, you hit the looting bug below rather than a missed body.

Fix for the “that’s already been used” looting bug

Players across the zone have run into the same failure at the looting step. Clicking a body returns the message that it has already been used, even when nobody else is anywhere near the tower, and the quest cannot progress past that point. The workaround below has cleared it for multiple players.

Hand in every quest you currently have ready to turn in. Clearing out completed entries first appears to matter for whether the objects reset properly.
Travel back to the West Pylon Watchtower and stand inside it, in the lower chamber where the bodies are.
Log out completely and log back in at that spot, then click the bodies again. The Shadowsong Family Signet and Raeni’s Lucky Feather should now go into your bags and the objectives should tick over.

One Last Request in Drustvar is a different quest

Searches for this quest often land on One Last Request, an Alliance quest added to Drustvar in Battle for Azeroth’s patch 8.0.1. It has nothing to do with the watchtower in the Shen’dar Highlands, and it involves no combat at all.

Quest nameOne Last Request
Starts withAlexander Treadward, Whitegrove Chapel
Turn inLucille Waycrest, Upper Corlain
Quest itemTreadward’s Ring (provided)
Reputation+10 Order of Embers

You pick it up from the ghost of Alexander Treadward at Whitegrove Chapel, at the end of the chapel chain that runs from To Have Loved and Lost through The Lady’s Fate. He asks you to deliver the ring to Lucille and to keep quiet about what happened at the chapel. Mount up and open the Drustvar map to set your course.

The ride goes along the main road past the outskirts of Corlain, then up the snowy climb through Pikeman’s Ridge. There is no escort or timer involved, so you can take the direct route.

Lucille Waycrest stands near the Upper Corlain gates, and handing her Treadward’s Ring completes the quest for gold, Order of Embers reputation, and an armor choice. Her minimap marker can be misleading depending on your progress in the zone story, so check the gates area and Arom’s Stand if she is not where the pin suggests.

If you are chasing the Shen’dar Highlands version, the names to look for are the Bloody Note, the West Pylon Watchtower, and Skypriest Aanders. Anything mentioning a ring, a chapel, or Waycrest Manor belongs to the Drustvar chain instead.
