Ride A Pet now runs two separate mutation systems at the same time. One is rolled when an egg hatches and can produce a Gold, Diamond, or Rainbow pet. The other comes from weather storms that sweep the server and stamp a trait like Shocked or Eternal onto eggs and pets. Both raise the same three numbers, and both can sit on the same animal.
Quick answer: Hatch mutations (Gold x2, Diamond x3, Rainbow x10) roll when an egg cracks. Weather mutations (Shocked 2x up to Eternal 100x) land during five-minute storms. They stack on the same pet.
Update 1 (Mutations) window and where to confirm the start hour
Live coverage for the mutations update runs from September 19 through September 26, 2026. It begins on September 19 at approximately 2:00 PM UTC (10:00 AM ET). Weather mutations have already gone live on the servers, so no activation change needs to occur before you use them. Check the event card on the Ride A Pet experience page for the precise hour.
Servers cap at six players, so storms are not contested the way map eggs are. Everyone in the server gets the same weather at the same time.

Add to Google Preferences →Hatch mutations: Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow multipliers
Hatch mutations are decided at the moment an egg opens. There are three tiers, and each one multiplies both the money the pet generates and its speed and power. Open the Index and look under Hatch Mutations to see the full list with its multipliers written out.

| Hatch mutation | Money | Speed / Power |
|---|---|---|
| Gold | x2 | x2 |
| Diamond | x3 | x3 |
| Rainbow | x10 | x10 |
Rainbow is the top hatch tier at x10 on both stats. Because the roll happens at hatch time, the only way to chase it is volume: keep every nest slot busy and keep cracking eggs.
Weather mutations: Shocked, Volted, Rage, Void, and Eternal
Weather mutations come from storms that roll over the server. Each storm is named after the trait it applies, and every weather mutation raises three things at once: movement speed, money per second, and sale value. A pet with a 4x trait sells for four times as much and earns four times as fast.
| Weather event | Mutation | Multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| Thunder | Shocked | 2x |
| Volt | Volted | 3x |
| Rage | Rage | 4x |
| Void | Void | 10x |
| Eternal | Eternal | 100x |
Each storm lasts five minutes, and when the weather rolls over, every event has an equal chance of being the next one. That means you cannot pick Eternal on demand — you wait, and you make sure the right things are sitting outside when it lands. Eternal at 100x is far ahead of everything below it, so a single Eternal hit is worth more than a long run of Shocked and Volted pets.
Gigantuar, the new weather event
Gigantuar arrives with the update as an additional weather event in the rotation, alongside the lightning storms that hand out the traits above. It behaves like the others in that it is a timed server-wide event rather than something you trigger, so the same rule applies: be ready before it starts, because the clock does not care whether you are mid-flight.

How hatch mutations stack with weather traits
The two systems are independent, and they combine. A Rainbow pet that later gets struck during an Eternal storm keeps its Rainbow hatch mutation and gains the Eternal trait on top of it. That is the ceiling worth building toward, and it is why Rainbow hatches are worth holding rather than selling on sight.

Weather traits themselves do not stack with each other. A pet holds one weather mutation at a time, but a storm can overwrite a weaker trait with a stronger one. A Shocked pet caught in a Volt storm becomes Volted, and the old 2x is gone. There is no downgrade — weaker storms leave a better trait alone.
Leave your best pets out through every storm, not just the ones you like. The replacement rule only ever moves them up.
What a storm can and cannot mutate
Placement decides everything. Lightning reaches some things and ignores others, and the most common mistake is leaving valuable pets somewhere a storm cannot touch them.
- Eggs lying around the map all pick up the active mutation while the storm runs.
- An egg put in your Pen for hatching may become mutated. If it does, the egg can hatch a pet carrying that same trait.
- Pets sitting in your Pen have a chance to be struck.
- The pet you are riding can also be struck while you are out on the map.
- Pets in your inventory cannot be mutated at all.
Because an egg only passes its mutation on with a chance rather than a guarantee, high-rarity eggs are best parked in the Pen and left there until a strong storm has hit them. Hatching a rare egg during calm weather throws away the chance of a free trait.
The giant fiery egg and its 300 billion requirement
The update also adds a large fiery egg structure on the map, gated behind a 300 billion cash requirement. It is a long-term money target rather than something you stumble into, which reshuffles what your cash is actually for. Selling mutated duplicates, rather than hoarding them, is how that number gets reached.

How to use the five-minute storm window

Keep the weather-trait pets you already have rather than selling them off for quick cash. Their sale value only goes up if a better storm upgrades the trait.
Radar restocks in the Gear Shop
Mutations only matter if you have eggs to apply them to, and radars are how you keep the supply coming. The Gear Shop carries a ladder of them — Royal Radar, Magic Radar, Angelic Radar, and Eternal Radar — each on its own restock timer. Check the shop between storms rather than during one, so you are not burning a live window on menus.

How to tell a mutation actually landed
A successful strike shows up on the pet or egg itself: it carries the mutation name, and its money-per-second and speed figures reflect the multiplier. Compare a mutated pet against an unmutated copy of the same species and the difference is immediate — a Volted version earns and moves three times as fast, and its sale price triples to match.
For eggs, the check comes in two stages. The egg picks up the trait during the storm, but the pet inside only inherits it on a chance, so an unmutated hatch from a mutated egg is a normal outcome rather than a sign something went wrong. The Hatch Mutations page of the Index remains the reference for which multiplier each tier is supposed to give, so use it to confirm what you are looking at before you decide whether to keep or sell.
