Where to find all eight Abandoned Belongings in the Ruins of Ban’aethal, and how to handle the Wind Hollow elementals.

Aid For The Refugees is a short collection quest that sends you into the Ruins of Ban’aethal to recover what the villagers left behind when the settlement was evacuated. It is easy to finish in a few minutes, and the only real obstacle is the pack of Wind Hollow elementals that now drift through the ruins.

Quick answer: Take the quest from Ealaane Nimbuswalker at the Zephras Isle refugee camp, loot 8 Abandoned Belongings crates scattered around the Ruins of Ban’aethal, then return to her to turn it in.

There is no faction requirement and no item reward, so the experience is the whole payoff. Because the quest is sharable, anyone in your group who is at least level 8 can pick it up from you instead of walking back to camp.

How to start Aid For The Refugees

Head to the refugee camp on Zephras Isle and find Ealaane Nimbuswalker among the displaced villagers. She explains that Ban’aethal, deep in Shadowgale Forest, had to be abandoned overnight when the village started drifting into the sky.
Talk to her and accept the quest. The objective tracker will add an entry reading Abandoned Belongings 0/8.

Open your map and follow the quest marker north. The route runs along a stone path through the forest until the ruins come into view.

The crates are plain wooden boxes sitting out in the open across the ruined stonework. They are clustered tightly enough that one loop of the site picks up all eight, and they glow with the standard quest object outline once you are close.

Work the site from the bottom up and check these spots:

  • At the base of the pillar beside the entrance stairs
  • On the low stone ledge just past the stairs
  • On top of a broken stone structure in the middle of the ruins
  • Next to a ruined doorway on the main platform
  • Along the outer edge of the ruin wall
  • Against a pillar on the upper platform
  • Tucked behind the row of standing stone pillars
  • Near the building entrance close to Resaan Nimbuswalker

Keep the quest area map open while you circle the ruins. The shaded objective area is small, and crates on the raised ledges are easy to walk straight past from ground level.

Handling the Wind Hollow elementals

The ruins are patrolled by Wind Hollow elementals around level 10. They are not part of the objective, so there is no reason to clear them. A single one is manageable at quest level, but they sit close together on the upper platforms, and grabbing a crate can pull two or three at once.

If several latch onto you at once, drop off the ledge and run the mossy ground around the base of the ruins. The elementals lose track of you on the lower perimeter, and you can climb back up to the platform you were looting without having to fight your way out.

Turning in the quest and confirming completion

Once the eighth crate is looted, the tracker flips to Abandoned Belongings 8/8 and the objective is marked complete. Run back south to the refugee camp, speak to Ealaane Nimbuswalker again, and choose Complete Quest. The turn-in awards 880 experience and closes the quest out.

To double-check that it is recorded on your character, paste this into chat:

/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(94896))

A result of true means Aid For The Refugees is finished and flagged. If it returns false, the turn-in never registered, and Ealaane Nimbuswalker will still have the completion dialog waiting at the camp.
