Graveyard Keeper 2: Where to Get Berry Pie and Beer

The two travelers sitting around the campfire in the woods want a Berry Pie and a Beer, and neither drops from a bush or a barrel out in the wild. Both are shop goods, sold by a single vendor in town, and you can have them in your bag within a couple of in-game minutes if you know which door to walk through.

Quick answer: Buy both from the Tavernkeeper in the Village Tavern. Berry Pie costs 37 copper and Beer costs 40 copper, and both appear in the Tier 1 trade list.

The Tavernkeeper’s stock is listed under Tavernkeeper Tier 1, so this is early-game inventory that you can reach long before your own kitchen is running. Buying one of each runs you 77 copper total.

Route from the campfire to the Village Tavern

Leave the campfire and head west, then turn north onto the dirt road. Stay on the road rather than cutting through the trees, since it runs straight toward the settlement.

Follow the road past the Hanged Man’s House and keep going north. This is the landmark that tells you you are on the correct path into town.

Cross the wooden bridge over the river to enter the village. The tavern is the lit building to the north, and it is hard to miss at night because the windows glow.

Walk up to the counter and talk to the Tavernkeeper, then pick the Trade dialogue option. The shop window opens with the full Tier 1 stock.

Buy one Berry Pie and one Beer from the list. Both land in your inventory immediately, and your copper total drops by the listed amounts — that is your confirmation the purchase went through.

With both items in hand, retrace the route south across the bridge and back down the road to the pair at the campfire to hand them over.

How to bake Berry Pie at the Kitchen Oven

Buying pies one at a time gets expensive, and the oven route is far cheaper once your kitchen is working. A single bake uses 4 dough and 6 berries and produces four Berry Pies, each one restoring 30 energy and clearing 3 insanity.

Getting there takes a short chain of prerequisites rather than a single unlock:

Repair the kitchen and set up the millstone.
Farm wheat, grind it into flour, then turn the flour into dough.
Place firewood racks inside so the oven has fuel to burn.
Pick berries whenever you pass a bush — there are three near the House and five in the Village.

Make berry picking a habit on every trip between the graveyard and town. Berries are the limiting ingredient once your wheat farm is producing, and a full stack is worth several ovens’ worth of pies.

Berry Pie vs. Beer for clearing insanity

Beyond the campfire request, both items feed into the insanity meter — the purple brain icon next to your energy bar. Insanity eats into your usable energy, so it has to be dealt with before it snowballs.

Beer removes a modest chunk of insanity, which makes it the fastest fix when you are out in town with coin and nothing baked. It does not restore any energy, though, and you cannot brew it yourself, so every one you drink is money gone.

Berry Pie is the better long-term answer because it hits both bars at once, giving back energy while stripping insanity, and it costs ingredients instead of copper. Stockpile a stack of them and you can work through long stretches without a trip to the tavern.

Pies and beer are patches, not a substitute for sleep. Working while the Tired debuff is active piles on extra insanity with every task, so when the blue “Zz” icon appears at the top of the HUD, sleeping it off is cheaper than eating your way through it.
