Zoe’s house call on Mr. Stewart is the moment Silent Hill: Townfall stops pretending to be a quiet night shift. The scene plays out as a slow sweep through a dark bungalow, and it ends with a creature between Zoe and the exit. Both the front and back doors are locked when control returns, so the encounter is a timed escape rather than a fight.
Quick answer: When the cutscene ends, turn around and go right into the kitchen, switch on the radio, take Mr. Stewart’s Key from above the bathtub, then unlock the back door from the bedroom.
What happens in the Mr. Stewart’s house cutscene
The scene opens with Nurse Zoe Ellis waiting outside a closed door in the hallway, announcing herself before she goes in. “Mr. Stewart? Are you decent? I’m coming in,” she says, easing the door open.

Inside the bathroom, the story is already written on the floor. A wheelchair lies on its side next to the toilet, with pill bottles scattered around it, and Zoe apologizes out loud for not getting there sooner.

She checks the shower next, asking if everything is okay before pulling the curtain back. The tub is empty apart from a white bath bench, and as she turns, a deformed figure crosses the open doorway behind her.

Out in the corridor, Zoe’s pager goes off with a message that removes any doubt about the patient: “YOU’RE TOO LATE — HE’S GONE. REPORT TO MEDICAL CENTRE.” Heavy, rasping breathing pulls her toward the open bedroom door instead.
The bedroom holds a heavily mutated, flesh-covered figure sitting on the edge of the bed, facing the windows. It grips its chest, groans, and drags an IV cannula needle out of itself before standing up and turning around. Control then returns in the dark, and the creature lunges with a quick button prompt attached. Miss it and the encounter ends on a You died screen with Continue, Load Game, and Quit options.

Only two objects matter in the house, and they sit close enough together that the whole escape takes under a minute.
| Object | Where it is | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Radio | Kitchen counter surface | Pulls the monster toward the noise |
| Mr. Stewart’s Key | Bathroom, above the tub by a pile of clothes | Unlocks the back door |
| Back door | Through the bedroom | Exit from the house |
How to escape Mr. Stewart’s house without taking damage
Do not linger in the kitchen after flipping the radio on. The distraction is on a timer, not a permanent lock, and standing near the source puts you in the monster’s path.
You will know it worked when the back door unlocks and Zoe steps outside with a full health bar. If the door will not open, you are missing Mr. Stewart’s Key and need to go back to the bathtub for it.
What the encounter changes in St. Amelia
The thing in the bedroom is not a one-off set piece. After this scene, the same type of creature starts appearing around St. Amelia, so the habits you pick up here carry into the rest of the district.
- Zoe has no weapons for these monsters, only distractions.
- Bricks and bottles work as throwables, so keep a couple in your inventory.
- The creatures can hit you at range, so breaking line of sight matters more than outrunning them.
- Staying unseen is consistently safer than reacting after you have been spotted.
Where the story goes after the house
The pager already gave Zoe her next destination, and the clinic picks up right where the house left off. She walks in through dark corridors past slumped, mutated figures in the waiting area before another pager message pushes her into the surgery ward.
From there the game hands you the other side of the story. The second playable character, a man in glasses, a beanie, and a red puffer vest, explains that he woke up in the water without meaning to be in St. Amelia at all.

When the two cross paths in a clinic storage room, Zoe tells him he should not have come back and walks out through the double doors. He is left holding a portable yellow television tuner, pleading for an answer about what is in the room.

Richard uses the handheld TV to contact him, instructing him to go after Zoe to the medical centre and noting that something has been left in the town square. Once he enters the fog, this path leads to helping a wheezing, bloodstained man back onto his feet, and the night continues from there.
