Control Resonant: How to Complete Help with the Mapping Pylon

The first thing Dylan does after stepping out of the Oldest House is fix a broken piece of FBC infrastructure. Downtown Manhattan starts with an almost empty map, and the Mapping Pylon on a nearby rooftop is what fills it in. The objective looks simple, but the Pylon itself will not respond until three smaller sensors scattered across the surrounding roofs are calibrated first.

Quick answer: Climb to the rooftop marked by green smoke, calibrate all three sensor dishes around it, then return and activate the central Pylon to reveal the Downtown map.

What the Downtown Mapping Pylon does

Mapping Pylons are the towers that reveal the real layout of each region in Manhattan. Until you bring one online, that zone’s map is mostly blank, and the map menu describes the unlock as an FBC Map Kit that reveals the zone map. The tower you need here sits south of your starting position in Downtown, on top of a building, and it reads Tower Offline: Calibration Required when you first walk up to it.

How to reach the Mapping Pylon from the Oldest House

Finish the conversations with Zoe and Pope inside the Oldest House and leave through the exit corridor. There is no long detour through the building this time, and your tracked objective will still read Leave the Oldest House until you are outside.

Drop down to street level in Downtown and follow the road south while Zoe talks you through the situation on the radio. You will pass signage for the Central Checkpoint Watchtower along the way, which is a later destination, not this one.

Vault the fences and climb the water towers and walls to get onto the roofs. The objective flips to Help with the Mapping Pylon once you are up there, and a column of green flare smoke marks the tower itself.

Walk up to the main tower before you go looking for anything else. Its dishes are angled toward the three sensors, so they work as a compass pointing you at each one.

Calibrate the three sensor dishes

Each sensor is a satellite dish on a neighboring rooftop with a console attached. They are easy to spot from a distance because an offline dish glows red. Activating one turns that light green, and the order you tackle them in does not matter.

Turn away from the central tower and run and jump across the adjacent roofs to the first red-lit dish. Interact with its console (L1 on PlayStation) to calibrate it and watch the indicator turn green.

Parkour across to the second dish and activate it the same way. Check the map between hops if you lose your bearings — calibrated stations stay visible, so you can see which direction still needs work.

Leap over to the fenced rooftop basketball court, where the third sensor stands next to the fence. Activate it to finish the calibration set. All three lights are now green and the main Pylon will accept input.

Grab the fast travel door on the basketball court roof

Before you head back to the tower, look around the basketball court. An Unopened Fast Travel Door icon sits right next to the third sensor, and opening the glowing green door registers the Outside the Oldest House waypoint. It costs a few seconds and saves a long run later, since this is the corner of Downtown the story keeps sending you back to.

Activate the Pylon and confirm the objective completed

Climb back over the rooftops toward the green smoke and interact with the central Pylon. The offline warning disappears, the tower comes online, and the game immediately draws in the surrounding region on your map. A few clear signals tell you it worked.

If the Pylon does not respond when you interact with it, a sensor is still red. Open the map, find the station that has not been marked, and calibrate it before trying the tower again.

With the Downtown map filled in, Welcome to Manhattan pushes you southeast toward the missing Maintenance Worker and the powerless Central Checkpoint. The side quest you just picked up runs in parallel for the rest of the game, since every other region in the city has its own Pylon waiting to be switched on — and each one turns another blank patch of Manhattan into something you can actually navigate.
