Inferlupa is the Nova-stage Fire and Dark branch of Flameruff, and it cannot be caught in the wild. The only way to add it to your team is to evolve a Flameruff, and that evolution needs a rare material called the Unbroken Flameruff Spirit. You need six of them, plus a Night Stone, and you can only unlock the branch after finishing a time-gated quest in Beast Fang Ridge.

Quick answer: Complete the Journey: Warrior quest in Beast Fang Ridge, farm six Unbroken Flameruff Spirits from the daytime “Flameruff the Mighty” enemies, then evolve a level 20 regular Flameruff using those spirits and one Night Stone.

Inferlupa evolution requirements

Only a regular Flameruff can become Inferlupa. Every other Flameruff variant can only evolve into Scorchhowl or its variants, so make sure you are raising a standard one. In the evolution menu, the eligible Flameruff appears highlighted in orange rather than yellow.

The Night Stone is the easy part. Defeat any Dark-type Alpha Aniimo and it will drop. The Unbroken Flameruff Spirit is an Epic evolution material, and it takes the most work to collect.

Where Unbroken Flameruff Spirits drop

Unbroken Flameruff Spirits drop from Elite Flameruffs in Beast Fang Ridge, marked with the “Flameruff the Mighty” title above their heads. These enemies only appear during the day, in the same clearing of dead trees where the Inferlupa NPC stands at night.

The drop rate is low, so expect to defeat several groups before you gather all six. If a pack stops spawning, fast-travel away and back to force a respawn. Because the Warrior quest itself has forced real-time waiting steps, it is worth farming these spirits during the downtime instead of leaving the grind for the end.

Releasing an Inferlupa can also return an Unbroken Flameruff Spirit, but releasing the creature you are trying to build is not a practical way to farm your first one.

Completing Journey: Warrior in Beast Fang Ridge

Journey: Warrior is the quest that unlocks the Inferlupa evolution branch. It sits in Beast Fang Ridge in the Breezy Plains region, an area built for higher-level teams, so bring Aniimo that can handle it. The quest progresses only after real-world server resets, meaning it spans multiple real-life days and cannot be rushed by changing the in-game clock.

There is a separate Journey: Warrior quest in the Russet Highlands. That one does not unlock Inferlupa, so confirm you are working on the Beast Fang Ridge version.

Day 1: Start the quest at night

Travel to Beast Fang Ridge and set the time to night. The quest NPCs only appear after dark, so switch to night in your menu before you arrive.

Head to the patch of withered trees east of Alpha Scorchhowl and find the campfire surrounded by Emberpups. Twine into a Flameruff or Emberpup so you can talk to them, then listen to their campfire story to trigger the questline.

At the crossroads indicated by the marker, find the solitary Inferlupa and speak to it. Take on its challenge, win the fight, and converse with it once more to proceed.

After returning to the campfire NPCs, search nearby for a narrow plume of purple smoke. Interact with that plume to obtain the initial Spirit Dust. The quest then instructs you to wait for the following real-time day.

Day 2: After the first server reset

When one full real day has elapsed and the server has reset, go back to the nighttime campfire and talk to the Emberpups once more. Select through all available dialogue options.
Collect the second Spirit Dust from the purple smoke behind the campfire. The quest will send you off to wait for the next reset.

Day 3: Farm the spirits and finish the quest

During the day, go to the clearing where you fought the Inferlupa NPC. This is where the “Flameruff the Mighty” enemies roam. Defeat them until you have all six Unbroken Flameruff Spirits.
Return to the campfire at night, listen to the final part of the story, exhaust the dialogue, and collect the third Spirit Dust nearby.
With all three Spirit Dust collected, go back to Inferlupa and accept its full challenge. This fight is tougher than the first, so bring Water, Wind, or Light-type Aniimo to counter its Fire and Dark typing.
Defeat Inferlupa and watch the closing cutscene. This completes Journey: Warrior and permanently unlocks the Inferlupa evolution path.

Evolve Flameruff into Inferlupa

After the quest completes, the Evolve option appears on any eligible regular Flameruff. Make sure that Flameruff is at least level 20 and that you are holding six Unbroken Flameruff Spirits and one Night Stone. Open the evolution screen, pick the Inferlupa branch (highlighted in orange, not the Scorchhowl route), and confirm.

You will know it worked when the evolution animation plays and Flameruff transforms into Inferlupa, a dual Fire and Dark Break unit. Keep a spare Flameruff ready if you want both branches later, since Scorchhowl and Inferlupa are parallel evolutions and one Flameruff can only take one path.

One last thing worth knowing: Unbroken Flameruff Spirit is also the name of one of Inferlupa’s combat skills, a Dark move that ricochets between targets and increases Break efficiency. That skill and the evolution material share a name but are completely separate. Using the skill does not create the material, so always check whether a screen is showing an inventory item or a combat ability before acting on it.
