The Fatui have spent the whole story building toward a weapon that can hurt a god, and in Genshin Impact 7.1 it finally gets switched on. Pierro walks into the middle of a losing fight carrying it, and the thing does exactly what the Fatui built it to do.
Quick answer: The Eye of the Fatui is a four-pointed purple star device built by the Fatui and wielded by Pierro. It channels destructive power far past mortal limits, then burns out after breaking Ronova’s barrier.
What the Eye of the Fatui is
It is a hand-held artifact shaped like a four-pointed purple star, developed by the Fatui and carried into the field by Pierro, the First of the Fatui Harbingers. Pierro describes it as finished “just in time,” and admits in the same breath that it has never been tested in live combat. The fight against Ronova is its first and only trial run.
The Eye is not a Vision, not a Delusion, and not a Gnosis. It is a purpose-built piece of Fatui engineering whose entire job is to put enough force behind one person to injure a being that governs death itself.
When it appears, the fight is already lost. Ronova has flattened the battlefield with a red vortex, and Kazuha, Jean, Mona, Kaeya, Ayato and Kokomi are all down in the snow. Dainsleif and the Traveler are the only ones still swinging.

Ronova reacts to the device before Pierro even uses it, and her objection is a physical one rather than a moral one.
You should not be able to wield that power… No mortal body or mind can withstand it.
Pierro’s answer is his own curse. As a Khaenri’ahn carrying the Curse of Immortality that Ronova herself laid on his people 500 years ago, his body cannot be permanently killed by the strain the Eye puts on it. He accepts the damage outright, telling her the Fatui do not care what the price is as long as they get to face the gods.
In other words, the Eye is not safe for anyone. Pierro is simply the one person in the room who can absorb what it costs.

What the Eye of the Fatui does in combat
Activated, the Eye throws out dense purple runic arrays around Pierro and feeds them into a single shaped weapon. It does not produce a spray of attacks. It produces one enormous crystalline lance, levitating above the battlefield, aimed at a single target.
Here is how that sequence plays out on screen.
Ronova does not stand still for it. She opens a giant celestial eye in the sky that blasts the Traveler through a rift in space, and answers the charge-up with red energy beams that force Dainsleif to pull an exhausted Pierro out of the bombardment.

The lance and the barrier deadlock in a stalemate until Pierro overloads the device. The barrier shatters in a blinding explosion, Ronova is blown backward, and the Traveler throws up Geo constructs to shield the group from the blast.
What happens to the Eye of the Fatui after the strike
It is a one-shot weapon, at least in this state. Forcing the device to maximum output drains it completely, and it hits the ground dull and overheated while Pierro collapses next to it. He does not pick it back up.
The strike lands, though. Ronova escapes through a purple rift toward a celestial pillar, bleeding and coughing, and realizes she is feeling mortal death for the first time. Before she goes, she pulls the forbidden Eitr out of the depths of the Shadow Realm and cracks the divine nail with it, calling it her parting gift.
The Eye is what broke the barrier, but it did not kill her. Ronova surrenders to her own demise afterward, on her own terms.
The Eye of the Fatui is not powered by the six Gnoses
This is the easy thing to mix up. While Pierro is fighting, the six collected Gnoses are somewhere else entirely, assembled in a frozen palace in Snezhnaya. The Tsaritsa uses them to build a tetrahedral energy matrix with maximized Cryo power, aimed at Rhinedottir rather than at Ronova.
That matrix is not strong enough to freeze space and time outright. It bends the bounds of Reason just enough to slow the flow of time inside the chamber. The Eye of the Fatui is a separate project running on the battlefield at the same time.
Where the Eye fits in the Fatui’s move against the Ruler of Death
The Eye arrives as part of a wider Fatui push, not as a solo stunt by Pierro. In 7.1 the Harbingers gather in Snezhnaya with the Traveler and Paimon present, and the mood in the room is closer to a war council than a meeting.

The Jester runs the session while the player walks Columbina up the central staircase toward him, and the Harbingers work through a vote on unsealing a notebook held in the Fatui’s archive.

The Rooster frames the whole thing around standing united against the Ruler of Death before casting the first vote in favor. Every remaining Harbinger follows, and the proposal passes by unanimous consent.

Seen against that backdrop, the Eye of the Fatui reads less like a gadget and more like the physical form of a grudge Pierro has carried for five centuries. He says he never forgot the look in Ronova’s eyes when she cursed Khaenri’ah, and the lance he fires is the answer he spent that long building.
