The West Incursion Zone Resonant sends Dylan Faden west of Central to kill the Resonant hiding inside the Theater. It looks like a straight run down a city street, and it is not. The road collapses into a dimensional chasm partway through, and the only way past it runs through a Parking Garage, a locked laundromat, and a Fault where Jesse hands over the Shift ability.
Quick answer: The Theater is unreachable until you finish The Incursion Fault under the Parking Garage and unlock Shift. Then climb out, cross the rooftops, and take the subway under the chasm to Empire Avenue.
How to start the West Incursion Zone Resonant quest
The quest becomes available during Welcome to Manhattan, once you have spoken with Zoe at the Watchtower and reported the patterned spotlights over the city. Finish whatever Central objective you are on first, then head west of the FBC Field Office toward the West Incursion Zone checkpoint. The objective reads Reach the West Incursion Zone.

The checkpoint is under guard, and reaching it means noise rather than stealth. FBC Rangers and Hiss forces are fighting at the camp, while another enemy group is jamming the gateway itself.

Reaching the Parking Garage: rooftops, House of Mirrors, and the security key
Getting to the garage means going up. Scale the cars pinned vertically against the buildings to reach the western rooftop, then follow the objective marker across the tops of the blocks. A mapping Pylon sits along this route and is worth activating before you go any further.
Two things are easy to walk past here and both save time later.
- Theater Vista — a fast travel door near the House of Mirrors cinema. Activate it.
- Zone map terminal — unlocks the local map so the garage district stops being guesswork.
- Power Core puzzle — hit the Core inside House of Mirrors, carry the Charge outside, and move it west to a second Core.

Transferring the Charge powers the nearby lift, which carries you up to the street outside the Parking Garage. Expect an apex Hiss enemy on the sidewalk on the way through, and more scattered fights along the alleyway.
Where to find the Parking Garage Security Key
The garage doors need a keycard. It sits inside the Wear’em & Washem laundromat, and the front entrance is blocked, so use the alley beside the shop instead. Hiss corruption covers the ground there, so use your traversal moves to stay off the spikes and go in through the back door.
Inside, the Parking Garage Security Key is on the desk beside a floating body. Grab it, return to the garage entrance, and use it on the door.
The Incursion Fault: unlocking Shift
Ride the garage elevator up, head south until Jesse’s silhouette appears, then drop through the gap and fall all the way to the bottom of the structure. You keep falling through inverted shafts until you land in the golden portal space of the Fault.
Once you are inside, jump to the eastern side and interact with the first television. Cross the gaps in the next area to find Jesse standing in a clearing. Speaking with her grants Shift, which lets Dylan align his gravity to walls, rotated roads, and other anomaly surfaces.
| Shift action | Input |
|---|---|
| Align to a facing anomaly surface | Face it, press L1 |
| Grab an anomaly around a corner | Face any visible edge, press L1 |
| Use an overhead anomaly | Get in range, press L1 |
| Return to normal gravity | Face a floor surface, press L1 |
| Release automatically | Move past the anomaly’s boundary |
The ritual itself is a chain of five televisions spread across distorted street planes. You will be shifting constantly between each one, so treat every vertical road as a floor.
Television locations inside the Fault
Television 1: With Jesse facing it, move onto the vertical street in front of her and follow that route all the way to the end. Realign, turn onto the street to the right, and continue until you reach the television at its far end.
Television 2: Move to the street behind the first television and continue right. Jump the gap, go right again onto the next street, then take the left street to its edge. Shift to the far side, jump, and shift once more to the street above.
Television 3: Jump to the following section and take the right-hand street. Shift left from there and the third television is in view.
Television 4: Push through the construction site and climb to the upper section. Double jump into a Shift to reach the street overhead, clear the gap, and take the left street up one more level.
Television 5: Keep climbing, double jump onto the street ahead and shift onto it. Walk to its edge, shift to the opposite side, and the final television sits at the end. Interacting with it completes the ritual.
You are not told to use Shift at every transition. If a route looks impossible, the answer is almost always another surface alignment rather than a missing platform.
Cutscenes play out and the quest log shows Quest Completed for The Incursion Fault. Control returns to you back in the garage complex, along with a Talent Point +1.
Climbing out of the Parking Garage
The way out is a vertical Shift puzzle. Take the street behind the last television and keep moving upward until you are back in the garage proper, then follow the painted Exit lines and signs through each level. Hiss variants ambush you along the ramps, so clear them before committing to a long shift.
One of the levels contains a jukebox with a Health Upgrade point. Pick it up, head north, then turn left onto the street marked Exit and follow that route to the top.
Investigate the Theater: rooftops, the subway, and Empire Avenue
With Shift in hand, return to the dead-end where the chasm stopped you. The objective updates to Investigate the Theater, and the traversal opens up considerably.

The missing FBC Rangers are the confirmation you are in the right place. They float suspended in formation outside the building, which answers the question of where the audience went.
The Theater boss fight and what happens after
Walk through the red-carpeted corridors into the Dance Hall. Entering that room triggers the objective Kill the Resonant in the Theater and starts the fight against The Dancer in a pitch-black arena.
Beating it closes out the quest and awards an ability choice between Ground Slam and Push.
A cutscene follows in which every enemy you have killed, Hiss or otherwise, comes back slightly stronger. That is the Resonant Cycle, and it fires after every Resonant kill.
That makes this a good time to spend Talent Points, improve weapon forms, and collect Health and Power Upgrade points before continuing. Progress through Enemy of My Enemy requires handling both the Dancer and the Deserter in Central. If one has already been completed, deal with the other one next.
