The Hedron Link is the main story mission in Control Resonant where Dylan Faden fights through Prime Candidate Training to reach Emily Pope, then crosses into the Unknown to cut the Hedron’s connection to the Oldest House. It sits under the chain labeled Main Story: Protect the Dimension, and it ends with a boss fight against the Hedron Parallel.
Quick answer: Rescue Pope in Prime Candidate Training, take the Sector Elevator into the Unknown, kill the Hedron Parallel, then ride the elevator back to Central Executive and report to Pope to finish the mission.
The Hedron Link objectives and rewards
The mission runs through three objectives in order, and the quest log renames itself each time you clear one. Nothing here is optional or branching, so if your waypoint disappears, check which of the three is currently active.
| Objective | Where it resolves |
|---|---|
| Rescue Pope | Shelter in Prime Candidate Training |
| Sever the Hedron Link | Boss arena in the Unknown |
| Report to Pope | Central Executive |

Payouts are split across the mission rather than dumped at the end. Talking to Pope over the intercom grants a Talent Point, and the completion screen hands over crafting materials plus Source.
- +1 Talent Point (intercom conversation with Pope)
- +1 Living Shard
- +1 Fungal Growth
- +40 Source
- Trophy: The First Link

Pope and her team are pinned inside the training grounds. The whole first half is a straight push inward, and every door you want is signposted.

Taking the Sector Elevator into the Unknown
From here the level stops being a building. The elevator drops you into a flooded, collapsing slice of the Oldest House where The Board narrates the spacetime “downgrade” while you glide between floating office slabs.

Hedron Parallel boss fight: damage types and the core
Two rules decide this fight. First, Hedron-patterned enemies are resistant to Raw damage, so swapping off that damage type matters more than raw DPS. Second, the Hedron Parallel only takes meaningful damage on its exposed core.
The boss fires rotating resonance rings that sweep the arena like spinning blades. Keep moving laterally, let a ring pass, then commit to the core in the gap that follows. The Board’s prompts during the fight point at the same idea, which is to disrupt the pattern rather than trade hits with it.
If the arena is overwhelming you, Assist Mode options such as immortality or one-hit kills will carry you through without changing the route.
The final hit triggers a cutscene with a resonant shockwave rolling out over a skyline. That is the link severing, and the quest immediately updates to Report to Pope.
Reporting to Pope and confirming the mission is complete
After the cutscene you are left on the desert-sky rooftops of the Unknown with no obvious exit. The way out is down, not across.
You will know it worked when the screen reads Quest Completed: THE HEDRON LINK, the Living Shard, Fungal Growth and +40 Source land in your inventory, and the trophy The First Link pops. If the log still shows Report to Pope, you have dialogue left with her.
How the first link connects to the endgame Hedron fight
Severing this link does not remove the Hedron. The name of the trophy is the giveaway, and the story later sends Dylan falling through rotating architecture toward an objective reading “Fight to the Core” for the real confrontation.

That endgame fight reuses the same logic on a bigger stage. You clear waves around the glowing core, then grab the fractured debris at the light fissure to channel resonance and strip the core’s bindings.

Between core phases the arena breaks into floating platforms under constant beam bombardment, with high-tier Hiss enemies mixed in. The dodging pattern you learn against the Hedron Parallel’s resonance rings is the same skill the later fight asks for.

For now, clearing the first link is what keeps Pope alive and keeps the Oldest House from being fully Patterned. Bank the Talent Point, hang on to the Living Shard and Fungal Growth, and follow whichever objective the log promotes next.
