Project Slayers 2 tracks live PvP win rates for every breathing style and Blood Demon Art, and the tracker keeps telling the same story. Insect Breathing sits at the top of the breathing charts in both casual arena and ranked queues, far enough ahead that it carries the developer’s “overperforming” marker while most other styles hover around or below the 50% line.
Quick answer: Insect Breathing is the strongest breathing style in Project Slayers 2 PvP, with a 58.2% casual arena win rate and 55.7% in ranked, thanks to invulnerability frames and stacking poison damage.
Insect Breathing win rates in arena and ranked PvP
Project Slayers 2 runs matchmaking for 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 in both casual and ranked formats, and the win-rate board is split along the same lines. The casual arena sample covers roughly 23,000 fights over a rolling seven-day window, while ranked sits closer to 10,000 fights.

| Breathing style | Arena win % | Arena games | Ranked win % |
|---|---|---|---|
| Insect | 58.2% | 3.6k | 55.7% |
| Serpent | 53.4% | 5.9k | 46.6% |
| Water | 50.5% | 3.3k | 50.6% |
| Thunder | 50.2% | 4.8k | 46.5% |
| Sound | 49.5% | 3.1k | 44.7% |
| Flame | 46.7% | 1.9k | 45.1% |
| Beast | 44.5% | 1.2k | 50.4% |
| Stone | 42.9% | 1.4k | 40.3% |
| Wind | 37.7% | 1.0k | 36.7% |
The gap is the important part. In ranked, Insect leads the next-best breathing style, Water, by more than five percentage points. Wind sits at the bottom in both formats, under 38% either way. Serpent is the one style that swings hard between queues, performing well in casual arena and dropping below 47% once ranked rules and better opponents come into play.

Add to Google Preferences →Why Insect Breathing wins the exchange
Three mechanical properties stack on top of each other, and each one solves a problem that other styles have to play around.
- Extended invulnerability frames. Insect skills carry long i-frames, so incoming attacks and full combo strings phase through the user without registering damage.
- Stacking poison damage. Poison applied by Insect moves keeps ticking after the exchange ends and gets through normal blocking and defense.
- Move priority and speed. The kit chains quickly, which means it wins the race to land the first hit in most neutral situations.
The practical result in a 1v1 is that an opponent can land a clean, fully connected combo and still lose the round. Damage that should have ended the fight either passes through i-frames or gets outpaced by poison ticking on the other side of the exchange.

Mirror matches are excluded from the win-rate calculation, so Insect’s number reflects only fights against other powers. Hybrid builds count toward both of their powers.
What actually counters Insect Breathing
Insect is not unbeatable, but the answers are narrow. Consistent perfect blocking is the main skill-based counter, because it denies the pressure the kit needs to keep poison applied. On the build side, the Uzui clan converts poison damage, and the Kocho clan grants poison immunity, both of which strip out the largest part of an Insect user’s damage output.
Everything else is a matchup problem rather than a counter. If you are not perfect blocking reliably and your clan does not interact with poison, you are fighting the raw kit.

Thunder Breathing after the nerf
Thunder used to be the default answer for duelists, and it still reads as one of the faster kits in the game. The recent nerfs changed the outcome of fights rather than the feel of them. Thunder now sits at 50.2% in casual arena and drops to 46.5% in ranked, where opponents are better at surviving the opening burst.

The concrete symptom is damage that no longer finishes the job. A full Thunder combo that connects on an Insect user can leave that player at roughly half health, which hands the round back to whoever has poison still ticking.

Blood Demon Arts standings in PvP
Demon players have their own two-horse race. Blood Manipulation and Cryokinesis are the only Blood Demon Arts above the balanced band in casual arena, and they also carry by far the largest sample sizes, which makes their numbers harder to dismiss as noise.
| Blood Demon Art | Arena win % | Arena games |
|---|---|---|
| Blood Manipulation | 55.4% | 6.1k |
| Cryokinesis | 54.6% | 4.2k |
| Arrow | 49.9% | 296 |
| Dream | 46.9% | 409 |
| Shockwave | 46.5% | 904 |
| Reaper | 44.1% | 409 |
| Temari | 41.9% | 405 |
| Pyrokinesis | 39.1% | 186 |
| Obi Manipulation | 15.2% | 105 |
Ranked shifts the crown. Cryokinesis is the single strongest power across both categories there at 60.9%, ahead of every breathing style including Insect. At the other end, Pyrokinesis bottoms out the ranked board at 35.1%, while Obi Manipulation owns the worst casual arena figure in the game at 15.2% across a small 105-game sample.
How to read the live win rate board
Ouw Productions publishes the numbers itself through a bot post in the #win-rates channel on the Project Slayers 2 Discord server. The post refreshes every five minutes and always reports on a rolling seven-day window, with separate sections for arena and ranked.

Each power carries a symbol that grades it rather than just listing a number:
- ▲▲ — overperforming
- ▲ — strong
- ◆ — balanced
- ▼ — weak
- ▼▼ — underperforming
Powers with fewer than 30 games are flagged separately, so treat the low-sample entries such as Obi Manipulation and Pyrokinesis as indicative rather than settled.
Because the board refreshes constantly, the exact percentages move by a few tenths hour to hour. Insect has been sliding between 58.0% and 58.2% in casual arena while its sample climbed past 3.7k games, which is drift rather than a trend reversal. If a balance patch changes the picture, the symbol next to Insect is the fastest place to see it.
