Fentufts and the Nimbi is a Journey quest set in Driftwise Meadow, part of the Breezy Plains region. It starts with the prompt “The Fentufts are picking on a Nimbi?” and ends once you learn what the true meaning of happiness is. The whole run keeps you inside one meadow, so it is short once you know the order of tasks.

Quick answer: Fast travel to Driftwise Meadow, twine as a Fentuft, earn three Joyous Tuftballs by helping three Fentufts, deliver them to the Bittersweet Bloom, then offer the Melancholic Fluff to complete the quest.

How to start Fentufts and the Nimbi

The quest is picked up in Driftwise Meadow. Open the world map, teleport to the Driftwise Meadow beacon in Breezy Plains, and head for the group of Fentufts wandering near the pond. It unlocks after the clue “A Sorrowful Cloud?” appears.

Before you do anything else, make sure you have a Fentuft-family Aniimo in your party. You can catch No. 059 Fentuft right there in the meadow with an Aniipod. Twining as a Fentuft is required for almost every step, so keep one deployed.

After you twine with a Fentuft, speak with the group. They say they want to make everyone happy before scattering across the meadow. Speaking to the Super Happy Fentuft starts the “The Happy Fentuft Team” cutscene and adds “Reach peak cheerfulness! [0/3]” to the counter.

Earn three Joyous Tuftballs

Three separate Fentufts each hand over one Joyous Tuftball once you help them. You can tackle them in any order. The objective marker points to whichever is nearest, and each completed task moves the cheerfulness counter up by one until it reads 3/3.

Meticulous Fentuft and the Sad Nimbi

One marker leads to the Meticulous Fentuft, who is trying to cheer up a Sad Nimbi. Twine as a Fentuft and use Snuggle on the Sad Nimbi. It moves away, so follow the Fentuft that chases it and Snuggle the Nimbi three times in total. It floats up happily and you receive a Joyous Tuftball.

Excited Fentuft and the Tuftball Super Rush Challenge

Head to the top of the hill on the snowy slope and talk to the Excited Fentuft to start the Tuftball Super Rush Challenge. Begin at the leftmost Tuftball and Scurry across the others in order without touching the ground. Finishing the run gives you the second Joyous Tuftball.

The run sits across the meadow on the snowy hillside, so sprint over once the marker updates.

Helpful Fentuft and the Springy Tuftball

Find the Helpful Fentuft, who asks you to activate one Springy Tuftball while it handles the other. Offer to help, then go to a Tuftball and use your Damage skill while twined as a Fentuft to set it off. Clearing the mini-game awards the last Joyous Tuftball.

Deliver the Joyous Tuftballs and read the bloom research

Once you have collected all three Joyous Tuftballs, head to the map-marked Super Happy Fentuft, also called the Fentuft Inspector, beside the large wilted flower on the cliff slope. The “Bittersweet Bloom” cutscene begins there. Select the choice to give your joy to the Big One flower, then use the Deliver Items menu to submit all of the Joyous Tuftballs.

Follow the next marker, climb the nearby tuft cloud, and read the document Research on Bittersweet Blooms. This explains why the bloom will not open and points you toward another Sad Nimbi.

Get the Melancholic Fluff and finish the quest

Fast travel back to the Driftwise Meadow beacon and follow the marker to the melancholy mist by the riverbank. There you find the perfumer Fantine standing beside a Sad Nimbi. Twine with the Nimbi to receive the Melancholic Fluff.

Roll back up the hill in Nimbi form to the Bittersweet Bloom (the Big One) where you delivered the Joyous Tuftballs. Use Offer to give it the Melancholic Fluff. A cutscene plays as the bloom opens fully, and you can pick up the Bittersweet Dew beside it.

Talk to the Super Happy Fentuft one more time to close out the quest. When it completes, the objective updates to “What’s the true meaning of happiness?” and the reward screen appears.
