World of Warcraft: Bloodtalon Matriarch Quest Guide

The Bloodtalon Matriarch is a short kill-and-collect quest for low-level Horde characters in Durotar. You pick it up from Xar’Ti in Sen’jin Village, sail out to the Echo Isles, kill a single named raptor, and bring back her eggs. The whole run takes only a few minutes once you know where she paces.

Quick answer: Swim east to the northernmost island of the Echo Isles, kill the Level 9 Bloodtalon Matriarch at the summit ruins, loot the Bloodtalon Matriarch Eggs, and return them to Xar’Ti in Sen’jin Village.

Quest requirements and starting point

This is a solo-friendly quest, though it can be shared with party members. Everything happens inside Durotar, so there is no long travel involved.

Where to find the Bloodtalon Matriarch

At the top of the northernmost island of the Echo Isles, directly east of Sen’jin Village, you’ll find the Level 9 Beast (raptor) called Bloodtalon Matriarch. She circles the ruined stone archway at the summit, moving back and forth among its pillars. Hunters may tame her, though the quest requires only the eggs.

How to complete the Bloodtalon Matriarch quest

Talk to Xar’Ti in Sen’jin Village and accept the quest. Then head to the village coastline and swim east across the water toward the Echo Isles.

Come ashore on the northernmost island and follow the terrain uphill. You will pass Bloodtalon Slashers along the path, so fight through or run past them as you climb toward the top plateau.

Reach the ruins at the summit and locate the Bloodtalon Matriarch pacing between the stone pillars. She is the only named raptor up top, so she is easy to spot.

Engage and kill her. As a Level 9 raptor she goes down quickly in melee, but watch your health if you pulled any Bloodtalon Slashers on the way up.

Loot her body to pick up the Bloodtalon Matriarch Eggs. The objective updates to 1/1 once the eggs are in your bags.

Swim back to Sen’jin Village and return the eggs to Xar’Ti to finish the quest.

The eggs drop from her roughly 77% of the time, so they are not fully guaranteed on a single kill. If your first kill does not give the eggs, wait for the matriarch to respawn and try again.

How to confirm the quest is done

You know the quest is complete when Xar’Ti accepts the eggs and you receive the Raptorscale Pants along with the experience and reputation gains. At that point the Bloodtalon Matriarch entry disappears from your quest log, and Xar’Ti no longer shows a completion marker over his head.
