Rini, the Rune Keeper, is the new creature at the center of Creatures of Sonaria’s Lore Event Week 2 update, released on September 25th, 2026. It arrives as part of an ongoing story about sealing a damaged Sun Door and subduing a corrupted force called Sotharkuz. Unlike creatures bought with in-game currency, Rini is earned by working through a set of event tasks known as the Rune Keeper missions.
Quick answer: Rini is a Tier 2 omnivore flier unlocked by completing the Rune Keeper event missions, which start by speaking to the Rini NPC at the Warden Door inside the Mountains biome.
What Rini is in Creatures of Sonaria
Rini is classified as a Lore Event creature, sitting in the Small (Tier 2) bracket as an omnivore flier. It has a 15-minute growth cycle and a moderate health pool, making it a support-leaning flier rather than a heavy combatant. Its damage output is low, but its passive kit is heavily defensive.
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Tier | Small (2) |
| Type | Flier |
| Diet | Omnivore |
| Health | 3,300 |
| Damage | 85 |
| Stamina | 140 |
| Growth time | 15 mins |
| Weight | 2,050 lbs |
| Fly / Sprint / Walk | 45 / 108 / 28 |

Rini’s passive effects lean into damage mitigation and mobility. It blocks 100% of injury and necropoison, blocks 75% of poison, and carries a defensive paralyze effect that applies when it is struck. Rounding out the kit are Soft Landing at 80%, Keen Observer, Charge Launch, Climber, and Agile Swimmer at 200.
Doormaster, Agile Swimmer, and Rini’s active abilities
Rini’s defining trait is Doormaster, a portal ability rare among fliers. It lets the creature mark a starting spot, travel to a second location, and open a two-way teleportation rift between the two points. The portal stays open for roughly 10 seconds and then goes on an 80-second cooldown, making it useful for shuttling between distant biomes such as Grassy Shoal and Flower Cove.
The second standout is Agile Swimmer 200. Despite being a flier that needs air to breathe, Rini moves and steers through water quickly, so it is comfortable diving into areas like Seaweed Depths. Its other active abilities are Gold Breath, Shock Area, and Vanish.
The update also introduced a second new ability tied to combat creatures more broadly. Counterdose converts your defensive ailments into offensive ones on your next bite, described in-game as “Your next bite attack applies your defensive ailments as offensive ones.”
Where Rini is found: the Warden Door in the Mountains
The Rini NPC sits inside a crystal cavern at the Warden Door landmark, located in the Mountains biome. Reaching it involves crossing the canyon and mesa region and flying up toward the snowy peaks, then descending into an icy cave near the Boreal Shrine area.

The world map marks the Warden Door location, which helps when orienting toward the correct peak. A trail of glowing purple paw prints also appears near the Mesa border and leads back through the mountains into the cavern, giving a visible path to follow.

At the end of the cavern, the Warden Door landmark and the Rini NPC appear next to a purple, sealed door. Interacting with the Talk prompt opens the dialogue that begins the event questline.

The Rune Keeper missions that unlock Rini
Rini is tied to the Rune Keeper event mission line, opened from the Event Missions tab after the first conversation. The objectives are:

- Speak with Rini at the Warden Door.
- Purify 3 Corrupted Splinters at your den.
- Collect 250 Harmony.
- Turn Harmony in to any Warden Shrine.
- Locate 10 Journal Scraps.
- Donate to any Warden Shrine 3 times.
Purifying Corrupted Splinters requires a den, which an adult creature places through the radial action menu. The Journal Scraps are linked to purple Memory Crystals scattered around the map, and inspecting them fills out the Recollections journal that carries the story past the Sun Door. Once every objective is checked off, Rini becomes available in the creature menu.

Harmony and the Warden Shrines
Harmony is the event currency behind two of the missions. It is generated by using abilities that help other creatures, so support species with healing or buff effects earn it quickly. Playing as Ani and using healing pulses on other players is one fast way to build up the required 250 points.
Harmony is spent at active Warden Shrines, such as the Verdant Shrine, which accepts offerings of 20 Harmony at a time and returns Lore Fragments. Those Lore Fragments are the currency used in the Event Shop.
The rest of the Week 2 update
