Next Year’s Moon, Just as Bright: Genshin Impact Quest Walkthrough

Next Year’s Moon, Just as Bright is the closing quest of the Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon event in Genshin Impact. It is a short, dialogue-driven send-off with no combat, built entirely around waiting out the in-game clock and holding one last conversation with Lan Yan at Yilong Wharf.

Quick answer: Advance the in-game time two full days to land between 12:00 and 16:00, teleport to Yilong Wharf, then talk to Lan Yan, Zhongli, and Lan Yan again to finish the quest.

What you need before starting

This quest sits at the end of the event chain, so it only appears after you clear the part before it. Make sure the following is done first.

Finish the earlier event quest Having Met You, My Heart Is Gladdened, which ends with Lan Yan releasing Lan Junming’s bound spirit.
Have the Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon event active. It runs until October 12, 2026, after which the quest can no longer be played.
Access to Yilong Wharf in Chenyu Vale, which the event story unlocks along the way.

You can reach the event from the Events overview screen, where Xiangling’s letter and the event details are shown.

How to trigger and finish the quest

Open the event menu and go to the Festive Priorities tab. Select Next Year’s Moon, Just as Bright and use the Go to Quest option to set it as your tracked objective.

From the Paimon menu, choose Time. Advance the clock by two days, setting it to any time between 12:00 and 16:00. The objective only activates during this period.

Bring up the map and travel to Yilong Wharf, in Upper Vale, Chenyu Vale. Choose the central Teleport Waypoint to arrive nearest the meeting spot.

Head up the stairs to the upper dining terrace. Lan Yan is there with Ningguang and the Lan clan elders. As you approach, a cutscene begins: Paimon intervenes and gives Lan Yan a reason to leave the formal tea gathering.

After Lan Yan moves away, find her on the terrace walkway and talk to her. She expresses her thanks to the Traveler and Paimon for rescuing her.

Talk to Zhongli when he arrives. He reflects on the Lan clan’s traditions and reports that the swallows across Liyue are settling into Chenyu Vale after Lan Yan’s ritual.

After Zhongli leaves to buy tea leaves, continue the conversation with Lan Yan about Moonchase traditions, festival food stalls, and the annual cooking duels between Xiangling and Escoffier. Finishing this exchange ends the quest.

How to confirm the quest is complete

When the final conversation ends, a scenic cutscene of the moonlit festival installation at Yilong Wharf plays, followed by the completion screen. You will see the “Next Year’s Moon, Just as Bright Quest Completed” notification along with a “To be continued” prompt, and the rewards appear on the results screen. The quest then leaves your active tracker in the Festive Priorities tab.
