WoW Forever: How to Complete the Murloc Gills Quest in Westfall

Murloc Gills is a level 12 Alliance quest in Westfall, part of the Toxic Soil storyline in World of Warcraft: Forever. It sends you to the coast to collect gill samples from murlocs so Alba Fairmoon can test the seawater for the same contamination hurting the region’s crops. The whole task stays inside Westfall, and you can pick it up as early as character level 9.

Quick answer: Accept Murloc Gills from Alba Fairmoon at Sentinel Hill, kill coastal murlocs along the Longshore until you loot 7 Longshore Murloc Gills, then return to Alba Fairmoon to turn it in.

This is the second step of the Toxic Soil chain, following Testing the Wells. Completing it opens the next quest and eventually leads toward the Deadmines.

Where to farm Longshore Murloc Gills

The gills drop from murlocs along the Longshore, the strip of beach on Westfall’s western edge where the land meets the Great Sea. Head west from Sentinel Hill, past Gold Coast Quarry, until you reach the water. Coastal murlocs patrol the sand and shallows all along this shoreline.

The gill is not a guaranteed drop, so expect to kill more than seven murlocs. Several murloc types can drop it, and the lower-level ones actually drop it more often.

Focus on the lower-level murlocs such as Coastrunners, Raiders, and Minor Oracles. They are easier to kill and drop the gill more reliably than the higher-level Hunters, Warriors, and Tidehunters.

Step-by-step walkthrough

Make your way to Sentinel Hill, in Westfall’s central area, and enter the inn in the tower. Talk to Alba Fairmoon and accept Murloc Gills through her dialogue.

Head west across Westfall toward the coast. Follow the road past Gold Coast Quarry until you reach the Longshore beach bordering the Great Sea.

Attack the murlocs along the shoreline and loot each kill. Watch your chat log for the “Longshore Murloc Gill” pickup message, since not every murloc carries one.

Keep clearing murlocs until your objective tracker reads 7/7 Longshore Murloc Gill. The counter fills as you loot, so there is no need to return early.

Return east to Sentinel Hill and speak with Alba Fairmoon again. Choose the complete option to hand in the gills and collect your reward.

How to confirm the quest is complete

When you hand in the gills, Alba Fairmoon awards 460 experience, 2 silver 50 copper, and +50 Stormwind reputation. The quest leaves your log and she immediately offers the next step, The State of the Mines, which continues the Toxic Soil chain toward the Deadmines.
