Everything the anniversary trailer confirms about harder missions, the reworked inventory, and how the anniversary helmet is granted.

The Anniversary Update for Jump Space, the co-op PvE space adventure from Keepsake Games, adds a new top-tier mission difficulty, mid-mission autosaving, a reworked gear inventory, and a limited-time cosmetic helmet. It is available on PC through Steam and on Xbox consoles, and it marks one year of the game’s early access run.

Quick answer: Every player who owns Jump Space before October 9th receives the anniversary helmet; the update itself brings Threat Level 8 missions, autosave with a Continue option, and an expanded backpack inventory.

What Jump Space is

Jump Space is a cooperative first-person adventure built around flying and crewing a spaceship, managing its systems, and fighting on foot. Up to four players fly through star systems, take on missions, and battle a hostile machine faction, both from the cockpit and during zero-G boarding fights. Along the way there is salvage to collect, upgrades to install, and pizza to eat between engagements.

The game launched into early access on September 19, 2025 after being renamed from Jump Ship. The Anniversary Update is the fifth major content drop, following the Vendor, Augmented, Heated, and Weapons updates, and it arrives after the game passed 900,000 copies sold.

Threat Level 8 and harder enemies

Mission difficulty now scales up to Threat Level 8, shown on the galaxy map as the new ceiling for mission intensity. Higher threat levels raise the chance of better salvage, but they also push combat difficulty upward with tougher robotic enemies.

Enemy variety expands alongside the new difficulty. The trailer shows tiered foes such as Hardened Drones and Dodger fighters. Enemies can also now board your ship if you shoot at them from it, which turns a purely external firefight into a fight for the interior.

Autosave and the Continue button

Missions now save automatically mid-run. A Continue option appears on the main menu, letting you step away and later resume from the start of the most recent sector. The same system supports rejoining co-op sessions, so a dropped connection or a break no longer means losing an entire mission’s progress.

Reworked inventory and the Cargo Bag

The gear system has been rebuilt around a radial wheel and a deployable Cargo Bag backpack. Player loadouts now hold two weapon slots and two consumable slots, with the backpack adding extra carrying capacity for weapons, deployables, and food items.

The wheel mixes combat gear with consumables. Examples shown include the Expendable RPG, a Deployable Shield, a Frag Grenade, and a Perfect Pizza Slice for healing between fights.

The multitool has changed too. The MaG-8 Materia Gun is now an optional equippable weapon with infinite ammo, rather than something that permanently occupies a slot. That frees up loadout space for other gear.

How the anniversary helmet is granted

The anniversary reward is a helmet with a gold reflective visor and a side antenna, styled after a retro green-and-yellow dome. It is granted to every player who owns Jump Space before October 9th. You will know it worked when the helmet appears among your suit cosmetics for use on your character.

Watch the trailer

The full trailer walks through the year-one retrospective, the autosave system, the inventory rework, and the enemy scaling changes before closing with the development team’s thanks and a preview of upcoming hyperdrive plans.

The Steam Free Weekend ran from September 17 to 21, with save files carrying over so any progress made during the trial stays with the account afterward. Between the free weekend, the anniversary helmet window closing on October 9th, and the new Threat Level 8 content, the update is aimed as much at returning crews as at newcomers testing the game for the first time.
