Valor Mortis arrives on October 13, 2026, and One More Level is handling the launch without the usual pre-purchase ritual. There are no pre-orders, no early access, and no bonus content tied to buying early. Instead, players get two low-risk ways to sample the first-person soulslike before paying full price.
Quick answer: You can try Valor Mortis free through a 90-minute PlayStation Plus trial starting on launch day, and your progress carries over if you buy. On Xbox, the full game is included with Game Pass Ultimate on day one.
Release time: October 13, 2026, 11:00 AM PT / 2:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM UTC

How to try Valor Mortis free at launch
Two subscription services let you play without buying the game outright, and they work differently depending on your platform.
- PlayStation Plus trial: a 90-minute timed session on PS5, available from launch day.
- Xbox Game Pass: the complete game lands day one in the Ultimate tier, playable for as long as your subscription is active.
The PS Plus trial is capped at 90 minutes, but anything you do during that window stays with you. If you decide to buy afterward, your save continues from where the trial ended, so the opening sections do not need to be replayed.
This trial takes the place of the earlier Steam demo, which had Chapter I and Chapter VII versions built specifically for Steam Next Fest. That demo was pulled in early September after players reported performance problems, and the developers said it no longer reflected the polish of the finished build. The PS Plus trial is not expected to be removed in the same way.
There is no way to play Valor Mortis before launch day. The studio confirmed there is no advanced access and nothing locked behind a pre-purchase.

Why there are no pre-orders
One More Level says its decision to skip pre-orders reflects confidence in the finished game. The studio is offering neither early access nor content exclusive to advance buyers, and believes the game will stand on its own when it launches on October 13.
Everyone pays the same price on launch day, and nobody who buys early gets items or content that late buyers miss. Combined with the free trial and Game Pass availability, the plan is built so players can test the game first and commit afterward.

Valor Mortis price and editions
Both editions are priced below the typical premium tier. The Standard Edition sits at $39.99, and the Deluxe Edition is $59.99, with the Deluxe adding a future story DLC planned for 2027 plus cosmetic content.

|---|---|---|
| Standard | $39.99 / €39.99 | Base game |
| Deluxe | $59.99 / €59.99 | Base game, Major Story DLC (2027), cosmetic packs |
A physical disc version is available for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the Standard price of $39.99. The base game offers a roughly 20-hour campaign, first-person soulslike combat, and a single-player-only structure.

What the game is
The Krakow team at One More Level, makers of Ghostrunner, developed this first-person soulslike action-RPG with Lyrical Games. You take the role of William, a soldier in Napoleon’s Grande Armée who rises from a battlefield grave into an alternate, plague-stricken history of the Napoleonic Wars.
Combat centers on parries, dashes, and finishers across a range of weapons, with metroidvania-style exploration and dynamic FOV scaling to keep large bosses readable. Vincent Cassel voices Napoleon Bonaparte, and James Alexander plays William.
With a free trial on PlayStation, day-one Game Pass access on Xbox, and a sub-$40 base price, the plan gives players several ways to decide whether the game is worth buying once it goes live on October 13.
