Star Wars Galactic Racer: Which Backer to Choose in the Campaign

The three Backers, their contract challenges, and why the Hutt is the lowest-risk pick for most runs.

The three Backers, their contract challenges, and why the Hutt is the lowest-risk pick for most runs.

Backers become available from Act 2 of the Campaign in Star Wars Galactic Racer, and each one hands you contracts that pay out extra Credits and rewards. You can only partner with one Backer at a time, and that choice sticks until you win or lose the current tour. Picking the right one comes down to which challenges fit how you already drive.

Quick answer: Choose the Hutt for the safest contracts, since its challenges cover simple tasks like overtaking, holding first place, and completing Pre-Race Checks rather than risky stunts.

The three Backers and their challenges

Three Backers are on offer: the Hutt, the Pirate, and the Broker. Each focuses on a different set of track behaviors, and the specific challenges you receive appear to be randomized for each Backer.

BackerChallenge focus
The HuttOvertake opponents, complete Pre-Race Checks, spend time in first place
The PiratePerform Advanced Maneuvers, trigger opponents’ System Malfunction, spend time in last place
The BrokerSpend time at very high speeds, hit opponents with Abilities, spend time airborne

Why the Hutt is the lowest-risk choice

The Hutt rewards normal racing. Overtaking rivals, holding the lead, and running Pre-Race Checks all happen as a natural part of driving well, so you rarely have to go out of your way to complete a contract.

The Pirate and the Broker lean on stunt-based and opponent-based tasks instead. Pushing for Advanced Maneuvers, triggering a rival’s System Malfunction, or holding top speed and airborne time all put you in situations where a crash is more likely. Because losing a League Token knocks you out of a tour, chasing that kind of contract trades real progress for extra Credits.

Match the Backer to your playstyle. If you consistently pull off stunts and offensive Ability hits without wrecking, the Pirate or Broker can still pay out well.

How Backer Contracts work

Once a Backer is selected, they stay with you for the rest of the tour. You receive a Backer Contract at each planet, and that contract closes out when you arrive at the next planet. For example, a Hutt contract to complete four Pre-Race Checks on Sentinel I is turned in for Credits once you reach Jakku.

Your rewards scale with your rating. The rating climbs when you place high in races and finish the contract, and it drops if you ignore the contract or keep underperforming. Perform badly enough and the payout shrinks, potentially to nothing.

Contracts never cost or grant League Tokens, so completing or skipping one does not directly add or remove a tour life.

Switching Backers

You are locked to your chosen Backer for the duration of the tour. Only after the tour ends, whether you win or lose it, can you partner with a new one. If the Hutt’s steady contracts stop suiting your approach, the next tour is your chance to try the Pirate or Broker instead.
