High Commander Lagta is a Hero-rank field boss in AION 2 that holds the Lagta Fortress in Altgard. It fights with a sword at close range and with waves that reach across the arena, so the fight is won less by raw damage and more by where you stand. Beat it and you get a guaranteed loot chest plus a shot at a full set of Unique gear.

Quick answer: Hold a position beside or behind the boss to stay clear of its forward attacks. After each Double Sweep, be ready to evade the Heavy Sweep that follows.

High Commander Lagta location and setup

This version of High Commander Lagta, titled Altgard Overseer, is a level 48 Cogni boss. You find it inside Lagta Fortress in Altgard, in a large dark room with a single spawn point. There is a matching version in Verteron’s Drana Plantation, but the Altgard fight sits in the fortress interior rather than out in the open.

Enter with a full party. Since the boss can strike at both close and long range, attempting the fight alone or underleveled prolongs it and leaves you vulnerable. Use your strongest gear, enhanced to +10 or higher, and prepare potions, scrolls, and buffs before engaging. Nearby mobs can join an AION 2 field boss fight, so make sure you have a buffer.

Put a Templar or Gladiator on aggro duty. A dedicated tank keeps the boss facing one direction, which makes it far easier for everyone else to stay off the front and work the sides.

How to beat High Commander Lagta

Stay off the front of the boss

Almost everything Lagta throws out hits the area directly in front of it, including its Dash, its Wave Sweep, and its sword combos. Backing straight up does not save you, because the Wave Sweep’s purple wave travels and still catches players at a distance. The safe play is to move to the side or behind the boss and keep your damage coming from there.

Dodge the Heavy Sweep after a Double Sweep

Lagta almost always follows its Double Sweep with a Heavy Sweep. When you see two quick swings in a row, treat that as your cue. Hold your dodge and roll the moment the second swing finishes, because the heavy hit comes right behind it. Getting clipped by this chain is the most common way the fight goes wrong.

Attack patterns to watch for

AttackWhat it does and how to react
Double SweepTwo fast sword swings in a row. Your warning that a Heavy Sweep is coming next.
Heavy SweepOne heavy swing, usually right after the Double Sweep. Dodge as the second swing ends.
DashA single big lunge toward players in front. Step out of its path.
Wave SweepCharges a fan shape in front, then fires a purple wave that reaches far. Leave the fan rather than backing away.
3 Attack ComboA horizontal swing, a quick vertical follow-up, then two hits in a V pattern. Keep dodging until the full combo ends.
Blue CrystalsThrows crystals at the ground. Move off the marked spots.

How to confirm the kill

When Lagta goes down, you get an “Achievement Unlocked! High Commander Lagta” notice, a Kinah payout, and Lagta’s Loot Chest (Bound) drops straight into your cube. Open the chest from your inventory to claim its contents. Completing the achievement awards the Executioner of High Commander Lagta title along with a Superior Manastone (Bound) and 7,000 Kina (Bound), which is your sign the whole fight counted.
