The retro co-op brawler brings He-Man, She-Ra, Teela, and Man-At-Arms to six platforms on February 4th, 2027.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction is a 2D side-scrolling co-op brawler set in Eternia, built by Bitmap Bureau and licensed through Mattel. It drops the cast of the 1980s cartoon into an arcade-style beat ’em up where you push left to right, clear waves of Skeletor’s minions, and face a boss at the end of each stage.

Quick answer: Confirmed for February 4th, 2027 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam, priced at $29.99 / €29.99.

Release date and platforms

The release date is locked to February 4th, 2027. No specific unlock time or regional rollout schedule has been confirmed, so treat the day as the known fact and the exact hour as still open.

The game launches across six platforms at once, covering both current and last-generation hardware:

  • PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4
  • Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One
  • Nintendo Switch
  • PC via Steam

The Steam build lists English full audio, with interface and subtitle support for French, Italian, German, and both Spanish variants. Listed features include single-player, shared and split-screen co-op, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, and Remote Play Together.

How the game plays

This is a 16-bit-style brawler in the mold of the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and X-Men arcade cabinets. You walk a scrolling plane, punch, grab, and use special moves to clear enemies, and pick up power-ups along the way. The art uses large, detailed pixel sprites meant to echo the look of the original animated series.

You can play solo or with a second player in local co-op. Online multiplayer is not a listed feature, though Remote Play Together lets a friend join over the internet on PC. Battle Cat also factors into combat as a mount, letting He-Man tear through enemies on the move.

The story centers on Skeletor uncovering the Dragon Pearl of Destruction and attempting an ancient ritual to plunge Eternia into darkness, with the heroes fighting across the planet to stop him.

Playable heroes

Four Masters of the Universe characters are playable, each with a distinct moveset and set of magic abilities:

  • He-Man — raw power and the Power Sword, with an electric finisher shown against Skeletor
  • Teela — fast, agile staff combat
  • Man-At-Arms — armored fighter with a mace
  • She-Ra — her own special powers and attacks

Orko appears as an assist, dropping in during fights to cast support magic rather than being directly controlled. Beyond the playable four, the game draws on a wide roster of franchise allies based on the cartoon and the action figure line.

Villains and bosses

Skeletor leads the opposition, backed by a large villain lineup that mixes well-known names with deeper franchise lore. Confirmed foes include Evil-Lyn, Beast Man, Trap Jaw, Tri-Klops, Masque, Torg, Jitsu, and the dark sorceress Shokoti, along with Shadow Beasts, goblins, and skeleton warriors as recurring enemy types.

Each stage builds toward a boss encounter, with a climactic duel against Skeletor himself. He-Man’s Power Sword finisher is shown landing on Skeletor near the end of the footage.

Stages across Eternia

There are 13 stages, spread across the varied landscapes of Eternia. The settings include the Royal Palace, the Vine Jungle, lava zones, icy caverns, ruins, and the corridors of Snake Mountain. Some sequences break from on-foot brawling, such as surfing over lava on sky sleds and vehicle moments tied to the Wind Raider.
