The Snowball is a common throwable in Enshrouded that you make yourself rather than loot. Getting one comes down to two things: gathering Snow from the frozen north, then crafting it at a Workbench. One unit of Snow turns into five Snowballs, and the recipe unlocks automatically the moment you collect Snow for the first time.

Quick answer: Use a pickaxe to collect Snow in the snowy biome north of the Ancient Spire – Albaneve Summits. At a Workbench, choose Fun and craft Snowball: 1 Snow makes 5 Snowballs.

Where to find Snow in the Albaneve Summits

Snow sits on the ground across the northern snow biome, in the area north of the Ancient Spire – Albaneve Summits. If you have not reached the region yet, travel through the Passage to the Albaneve Summits to get there. The snowfields themselves are the reliable source, so head into open, snow-covered terrain rather than hunting for a specific container or node.

How to mine Snow without hitting granite

Snow is gathered with a pickaxe straight off the surface. The one catch is that granite sits directly beneath it, and digging too deep in one spot switches you from collecting Snow to breaking stone.

Equip a pickaxe. Any pickaxe works, including the Gilded Pickaxe, which has the widest mining radius at a maximum of 260%.
Aim at the snow-covered ground and begin mining. Keep moving across the surface as you dig instead of standing still and drilling into one point.

Watch the material you pick up. As long as it reads Snow and not Granite, keep going until you have enough for the number of Snowballs you want.

Because one Snow yields five Snowballs, you only need a small amount of Snow for most uses. A single unit is enough to test the recipe.

How to craft Snowballs at the Workbench

Snowballs are made through Manual Crafting at a Workbench, and the recipe appears on its own once you have collected Snow. Crafting is instant and costs nothing beyond the Snow itself.

Return to a base and interact with a Workbench. Manual Crafting also works anywhere you have the Snow in your inventory or within reach of a magic chest holding it.
Open the Fun category in the Workbench menu. Select Snowball from the list.

Craft the item. Each craft consumes 1 Snow and returns five Snowballs instantly. You know it worked when five Snowballs land in your inventory, where they stack up to 20.

Snowball stats and the Snow Lantern recipe

The Snowball is a level 1 throwable weapon, described in-game as a lumpy ball of snow that is harmless as long as you leave the rocks out. Beyond throwing it, Snowballs feed into furniture crafting.

The Snow Lantern is the main use for Snowballs. It is built at the Workbench under Comfort Furniture – Illumination and needs 10 Snowballs and 1 Candle, crafted instantly. Since each Snowball craft gives five at a time, two batches of Snow cover a single lantern.
