Patch 1.0.1 reworked how jewellery contributes to damage in RuneScape Dragonwilds, and the result shifts which trinkets are worth equipping. The Amulet of Glory, long the default damage neck, took a heavy cut. In its place, the Unholy Symbol and the Salve Amulet now carry the strongest bonuses, each with a different trade-off attached.
Quick answer: The Amulet of Glory’s damage was roughly halved. The Unholy Symbol gives a flat +15% to all styles at the cost of health, and the Salve Amulet gives +17% against undead with no penalty. A ring-slot bug lets the Unholy Symbol stack with Glory for up to +27.5%.
Amulet of Glory nerf in Patch 1.0.1
The Amulet of Glory no longer delivers the across-the-board damage it once did. Its melee and magic bonuses were cut in half, and its ranged critical bonus was reduced as well. It remains a usable neck slot with no downside, but it is no longer the clear top pick for raw output.
| Bonus | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Melee damage | 25% | 12.5% |
| Magic damage | 25% | 12.5% |
| Ranged critical damage | 25% | 15% |
Unholy Symbol: flat damage for a health cost
The Unholy Symbol is a necklace carrying the Zamorak mark, described in-game with the line “Don’t wear it to church.” It grants a flat +15% damage across melee, magic, and ranged base damage, which makes it the strongest general-purpose damage neck after the Glory change.
The catch is its health penalty, which changed in Patch 1.0.1. It used to subtract a flat 15 health. Now it removes roughly 15% of your maximum health instead. On a character with 310 maximum health, that drops the pool to 264. The higher your health, the larger the raw reduction, so the cost scales with your build rather than staying fixed.
Because the penalty is now percentage-based, the Unholy Symbol suits damage-focused builds that can afford the lower health pool more than it suits tanky, high-health setups.
Salve Amulet: the undead specialist
The Salve Amulet is built from a crystal that absorbed the blessings of the River Salve. It gives a flat +17% damage across all combat styles against undead enemies, and it carries no health penalty at all. Against targets such as Zogres, skeletons, and the undead found in Felhallow or raids, it outperforms both the Unholy Symbol and the reduced Amulet of Glory.
Outside of undead fights the amulet does nothing, so it is a swap you carry for specific encounters rather than a permanent neck slot. For undead-heavy areas, though, it is the single most efficient option because the bonus comes free of any drawback.

Ring slot stacking bug
Patch 1.0.1 split rings and amulets into their own dedicated equipment slots. An unintended side effect of that change lets the Unholy Symbol, which is categorized as a necklace, be placed into a ring slot. Because the slots are now separate, this allows a second damage neck to sit alongside whatever is in the amulet slot.
Wear the Unholy Symbol in your ring slot and the Amulet of Glory as your amulet, and their effects combine by addition. The result is +27.5% damage for melee and magic. Ranged receives +15% flat damage, along with a +15% ranged critical bonus. This combination is an exploit, not a planned setup, and a later patch will likely address it.

Which jewellery to equip now
The right choice depends on the fight and how much health you are willing to give up. For undead encounters, the Salve Amulet is the cleanest gain because its +17% applies with no cost. For everything else, the Unholy Symbol offers the highest flat bonus provided you can absorb the percentage health loss, while the Amulet of Glory stays a safe, penalty-free option if survivability matters more than peak damage. The ring-slot stacking sits apart from all of this as a temporary quirk of the split equipment slots, and players relying on it should expect it to go away.
