Classes in Chop the Forest are permanent loadouts you buy with Gems. Each one changes how a run starts by adding buffs to chopping Power, Walk speed, Sell price, Rare tree luck, and Carry capacity. You equip one class at a time, and its buffs apply the moment you drop into the forest.
Quick answer: Spend Gems at the Classes stand in the hub. Clawman is the strongest at 4,000 Gems, while Woodcutter is free and Lumberjack is the cheapest paid option at 180 Gems.

How to unlock Classes in Chop the Forest
Classes are sold at the Classes stand in the hub area, and you pay for them with Gems rather than Coins. Gems have a chance to drop from each tree you chop, so they accumulate as you clear a forest. You also pick them up from the Daily Reward stand and by joining the developer group for a one-time bonus.
- Chop trees during runs for a chance at Gem drops.
- Claim the Daily Reward stand for Gems, starting at 25 on day one.
- Join the developer group for a 100-Gem one-time reward.
The stand restocks roughly every 5 minutes, and its lineup rotates, so a class you want may show as sold out until the next refresh. You can reroll the available stock for 29 Gems if you would rather force a new selection than wait.
Clawman appears rarely in stock, so keep enough Gems banked to buy it the moment it shows up.

Which Classes to prioritize
Clawman is the best class outright. It stacks every buff type at once, which turns it into a fast farming loadout for clearing zones and racking up more Gems. The only real drawback is the 4,000-Gem price and how seldom it appears in the shop.
Lumber Legend sits just below it, covering all five buff categories at lower values. It performs well in both solo and team runs even before you buy many upgrades, and the 2,700-Gem cost makes it the practical target before you can afford Clawman.
Ultimate Lumberjack offers the strongest value among the Legendary options at 1,600 Gems. The mix of Power, Walk speed, and Sell price suits team runs immediately and scales into solo play once you raise your Carry capacity with shop upgrades.
Chainsaw Specialist is the most reliable mid-game buy at 800 Gems because it is almost always in stock. The +35% Power and the early Walk speed boost both stack cleanly with in-run upgrades. Timber Titan and Forest Reaper are solid power-focused picks when you want a fast start, with Timber Titan leaning on raw Power and Carry and Forest Reaper leaning on Rare tree luck for faster early money.
The cheaper tier rewards are easy to skip. Lumberjack, Logmaster, and Timber Baron each hand out buffs you can replicate through Gem Perks and shop upgrades for fewer resources, and Woodcutter’s +5% Power is only a starter crutch. Save your Gems for a class whose buffs you cannot buy elsewhere.

Confirming a class is equipped
After you buy a class at the stand, it shows as OWNED on its card. Once equipped, you start each run with that class’s buffs already active, so your chopping Power, movement, sell value, and carry limit reflect the listed perks before you touch a single tree.
